Not sure about what to do for a sign, I’m sure someone here will have a really good idea. I can say that I’d ask your bridal party members or a few people to write wishes ahead of time so you have some already there, I find people “get” things when they see an example and are much more likely to get into leaving messages once others have started ๐Ÿ™‚

I love this! I’m also thinking about doing alternative guest book anon concerned my guests wouldn’t get it. Thanks!

@Toastymama:  I would seal the stones ahead of time if they’re porous, and after to protect the ink. I’d also test a few good quality permanent pens (acid free, india ink, etc) to see how they write on the stones and make sure they don’t smudge when you varnish them. ๐Ÿ™‚ Let the ink dry as long as possible before varnishing too. Archival quality ink I think is the best, lest likely to fade when exposed to UV/sunlight.

Not sure if this is a destiniation wedding, or how many people you are inviiting, but keep in mind these might get kind of heavy and difficult to transport! Super cute idea though!

@Toastymama:  You can get sealant from craft stores, it’s used to prep wood and other things before painting, some stones may be more porous than others. I personally use a water based satin finish varnish from the hardware store, almost exactly the same but way cheaper. Test runs are a must though. Good luck!

After you could set up a small tray with sand and shells, etc as a backdrop and have a mini photo shoot of the stones, maybe a few at a time, which you could put in an album and not worry as much if the marker fades over time.
