I was thinking about going somewhere like FL to get married….then come back home and have the reception. I’d like to just keep it at our parent and our siblings, their children and ours. I wanted to take our own photographer and don’t want any arches, tiki tourches, none of that…. just some rose petals for my daughters to throw and an officiant. I’ve looked online and it seems like you have to buy all these packages….can’t you just have an affordable do it yourself wedding on the beach? I’d like to spend the money on the reception rather than the wedding itself. Does anyone know if you can have a beach wedding without going through a wedding company?

My first wedding was in St. Maarten. It was just he and I and it was inexpensive. 800 it cost us. They provided the photographer, the Justice of the Peace, and the witnesses. No torches no arch, very simple. I think islands may be different then here in the States.

We are doing exactly what you envision on the beach… but all the way on the West coast! We found an officiant ($250), and a photographer who has ‘elopement packages’ and can be rented by the hour ($300). So, $550 for the wedding ceremony and pictures on the beach. Of course, I want flowers to hold and flowers for our family and that totaled $200 more.
I would search for an officiant in the area and then a photographer who can be paid by the hour. Good luck!
