I’m having a difficult time picking out a color for my dresses. I want the color to be attractive in pictures but also not torture for the girls. I was in a beach wedding this year and the bride chose a long coral dress – the other maids nicknamed it ‘the pink nightmare’. As horrible as we looked individually – the pictures looked really great on the beach because the color ‘popped’.
I originally wanted a sand or light gold color but the photographer suggested that the girls would look washed out on the beach and just blend into the sand.
I was thinking about periwinkle or leaf from Aria Dresses. I am worried about how they will look against the water. You can see the colors at http://www.ariadress.com
also buying from JCrew or Ann Taylor is out – b/c some of my girls can’t fit into them.

Hmm. I like the leaf- it should look nice with the sand and water.
The other thing to consider is the color of the sky as well. If you’re planning on a sunset wedding, your main backdrop is going to be a completely different range of colors than it would be normally.

I actually like the colors on that first picture that comes up when you click on the link. I really like the periwinkle. But I also agree that you may want to think about the sky if it’s at sunset.

I really like the periwinkle. My fiance and I are considering a beach ceremony as well and we picked pewter and serene (a bluish color) from DB’s. I gave my bridesmaids 4 choices of color (pewter, a darker blue, a light blue and champagne)…they all agreed that champagne would look too washed out.

We’re doing Tangerine..I saw a pic of girls in tangerine on the beach and it was beautiful.
