I think you should wear any dress that you love! The only ones I’d stay away from are dresses with long trains and ballgowns:) I like the simplicity of #2- maybe with a sash?

Well, I am having a beach destination wedding (Hawaii) and I have a ball gown with a good-length train. My sister runs a wedding planning business there as well, and she said she has seen everything from sundresses to full ball gowns with cathedral length trains and veils. She said get what you love because it is your wedding. No dress is too fancy or too casual for a beach wedding!

the hotel I am having mine at is plantation style with lots of very elegant features, so I tthink my dress will work well, even though my wedding is going to be on the beach.

I think you should choose the one that makes you feel gorgeous! And don’t worry about if it “fits” the location. 🙂

No way, taht dresses aren´t too much for the beach, both are great, Im having a destination wedding too, and my dress it´s a ball gown . At first i was looking for a simple dress too, but when i tried mine i felt in love and you just get married once, so you need to chosse the dress than you really love…..i like the first dress

We are getting married on the beach as well, and I have a mermaid fit dress. It definitely isn’t chiffon or flowy like a lot of brides get for a Destination Wedding. It’s satin and sleek. I originally was going to get a ballgown, but the mermaid style looks so much better on me. I think the second dress looks lovely on you!

There is absolutely nothing wrong with ballgowns or trains on the beach. In fact, they often look stunning!

I had a beach wedding.  And I ended up going with a flowy chiffon gown… it was nice… and I was happy that it wasn’t any of the following

    (a) tight & form fitting

    (b) BIG

    (c) heavy fabrics / HOT

    (d) had a train

That said, I don’t think the dress was 100% me… I sort of got talked into it by some GFs who said I really “should have” a flowy beachy dress for this Wedding (I am an Encore Bride)

In reality, I should have listened to my gut… and started shopping a lot sooner.

My personal style… is definitely more tailored… and if I had the time I think I would have found something that would have been MORE ME

It wouldn’t have been tight or form fitting, BIG, heavy fabrics, or had a train… but it still would have had more definition than the dress I ended up with

    So my best advice…

Go with a dress you love first and foremost.

BUT that said bare my list in mind, along with an eye to the terrain / setting where you’ll be married.

I am happy in the end that I chose NOT to wear a veil and went barefeet.

And for sure, at least in my situation where it was JUST THE BEACH (no garden, no paved walkway etc) … having any sort of train would have been a HUGE pain in the butt !!

    Hope this helps (somewhat)

EDIT TO ADD – While I was drafting my reply… I see you were posting.  Happy to hear you found your dress.  Do you have any pics to share ?

you can wear whatever you want. Just because you are having a beach wedding doesn’t mean you HAVE to have a flowy dress.  That being said, I voted flowy chiffon Smile which I think would look great on you
