I was going to get married on the beach but it would be impossible for my grandmother and Future Mother-In-Law to attend.   Since the beach style wedding dresses are often made of chiffon, it will look gorgeous in pictures.

I was going to wear a long flowy dress from BCBG, JCrew or Anne Klein.  Even found some options on preownedweddingdresses.com but my gf nixed that idea.  I would definitely check out preownedweddingdresses.com because you can get a brand new dress for half the price.

Good Luck.

This is my dress for our beach wedding, but I will be wearing shoes since my Fiance must wear shoes with his uniform. So we are actually getting married at a beachside gazebo.

But this material is taffeta and extremely light and can be dressy or casual I think depending on accessories

Its alfred angelo 2034

Please ignore the rows of pins down the sides that Im desperately trying to hide.

oh and it’s around $300 in the US.

I got married at the beach ( intimate wedding with two guests only) and i never considered wearing a short dress. It wouldn’t have been special because i’m always wearing short dresses during summer. My dress was from BCBGMaxazria, it is made of 100% silk and ultra light and flowy. You can see it on the link below, the password is: weddingbee ( all photos are taken by our wonderful photographer Kristen Wynn from kristenwynnphotography.com )

I bought a few dresses because i just couldn’t make a decision and i actually wanted a “real” wedding dress with a train ( the AA 2034 posted above was one i also considered, but i dind’t try it on). I definately made the right choice, the other dresses i bought before would have been too warm and too heavy. I LOVED my final dress, it was perfect!!! And i don’t regret not having a train at all. It’s hard to say whether or not you will regret wearing a short dress, but i think you only get this one opportunity to wear a special dress. Depending on your budget and your plans for the day you could buy a long dress, have a trash-the-dress session after your ceremony and then change into the short dress later. Her’s a link to my dress:

I also tried one these two, they were also very nice. The neckholder looked even better than the strapless version, but i think strapless is more comfortable in the hot sun

Dessy also has some gorgeous dresses that are perfect for a beach wedding:

I wore a short dress. It wasn’t a beach wedding, it was in the courtyard at a B&B. Before the wedding I did have some dress regrets, I thought it wasn’t fancy enough. But on the day of the wedding all those feelings went away. The dress was perfect for me and my wedding, and I was so glad I chose it.

I carried my dress in a garment bag ( rolled like a yoga mat) as my hand luggage. Total travel time was 36 hours including a 12 hour flight and the dress had some tiny wrinkles that were barely visible.

We didn’t travel non-stop, we had an overnight stay in another city prior to the flight ๐Ÿ˜‰ But the dress was rolled up for 36 hours.

There are some other threads about travelling with a dress. Just type “travel with dress” into the search bar and you will find a lot of useful tips from other brides

I’m having a beach wedding as well & love the suggestions by the pp’s… I considered a short dress too, but decided I wanted something more “bridal”, even if it wasn’t everyone’s idea of what bridal actually is… check out The Limited’s collection. They have gorgeous affordable beachy dresses. Here are my faves for beach wedding dresses:

The Limited’s “Romantic” gown

Maggie Soterro’s Destinations collection style Rehearsal Dinner1044 (This is my pick- I’m currently having a chinese replica made for under $200- original $1200)

I loved my dress, it was perfect for the beach i thought. It was more material than i wanted for a beach dress but it was gorgeous on the beach.
