We are having our ceremony on the beach, we have our permit but the beach doesen’t allow wedding chairs or any set up. only typical beach chairs
What do I do? Is it bad to have everyone stand for a little while? Does anyone have any suggestions?

@SandAndSea: I would have everyone stand before I would have regular beach chairs…. how long is your ceremony? I’m going to go ahead and assume not very long since you’re having a beach wedding…. I think standing will be fine, unless you have some guests with health issues that may need to sit, then you could provide a chair for them. I just think that it would look better in pics to have everyone standing than sitting in lounge type beach chairs. Hope this helps.

I agree, I would just let them stand and try to have a short ceremony. And make sure to have some chairs for the older or disabled guests.

@SandAndSea: I think it’s fine if they all stand , just keep the ceremony short and sweet! I would maybe provide a couple chairs for grandparents or people with disabilites but other than that I think it would be fine 🙂

What is a “regular beach chair” ? I am thinking folding chairs could be beach charis? Is there is Pavillion or something nearby that you could take advantage of. Unless your ceremony is more than 30 minutes or your have elderly/disabled/injured guests, I don’t see a problem with standing. However, maybe you could have some beach chairs (just not the low to the ground kind) incase someone can’t stand.
From experience, think about footwear. Maybe you will want to provide flip flops as heels do not do well in sand. We had flip flops for the guests at our beach venue and even my aunts were wearing them for photos in the sand.

We’re having a beach ceremony, and it’s honestly only about 15 minutes long and everyone will be barefoot. So if you have something similar, then your guests should be perfectly fine for that short time 🙂

Were having a beach wedding too and have had the same problem. Ceramony is about 20 min….but were having about 130 people! Thinkin a few chairs for the elderly 🙂 then they can stand and well provide some blankets for sitting and lay a few out in front for them if they want. Also, we wrote on the website that they can bring their own stuff if they want. We figure its on the beach anyway so itll be relatively low key to begin with.
But Ive also seen people rent benches, hay barrels with blankets over the top, and blankets with pillows on top.
Good luck and let us know what you decide!!

I have always seen guests standing at ceremonies like that. I don’t see it being a problem!

I am trying to figure this out as well. I don’t want guests to stand so I am entertaing the thought of a pillow ceremony. Thats where you use fabric with pillows on top. I was also considering using bamboo mats. Its is very hard to find good pics of these set up though.
Whatever you decide I’m sure it will be beautiful

@slicey19: That’s a cute idea! But, do people wear heels to the beach?

@SandAndSea: not if they have sense.
