Really depends on the beach, the time of year, and the space.  Smaller wedding, in a more enclosed location – you should be OK.  For a larger wedding, in a more open space (especially on a public beach), you may want to rent more than one speaker, and place them in the back, as high as possible.  Sand and water suck sound, and though the beach atmosphere is just lovely, the sounds of the ocean and people often make it hard to be heard.  In addition, it’s often very windy, so your officiant may prefer a lavaliere or clip on mic, so they can hold their script with two hands.

How many people will be there?  The speakers depend on the size of your group, if it is a large guest count, the sound might not reach all the way to the back.  Or depending on non-guests if you are in a public area or how loud the waves are.  Are you having a DJ you would be able to do ceremony music also for a less expensive fee?
