Depends on the reputation of the beach location (do some reseach). Mine had a rep for being very windy, but I did a catheral veil anyway.  It was super annoying for the ceremony but pretty for photos!

Here it is kind of twisted during our ceremony.

And here it is for photos!!

i’m getting married on the beach too… i’m not going to have a veil…. but not for wind reasons…. just my preference.  i’m going to put a simple flower in my hair…. and that’s all.  but I have seen both at the beach…. comes down to what you like….

If you do, you can get it weighted so that it doesn’t blow around in the wind.  So it really depends on what you want your wedding look to be.  We are going very casual so I am having a flower in my hair and no veil.  Plus, I am super klutzy and know that I would find someway to look awkward with the veil blowing around.  I surely wouldn’t look as romantic as PP’s photo.

no veil for ours. it was windy so I actually stood on the “wrong” side so my hair wasn’t blowing in my face during the ceremony.

I wasn’t too keen on wearing one anyway so it wasn’t a big deal to me.

It makes for some gorgeous pics though!

    I had a Beach Wedding… and I loved it.

BUT the reality is they are windy places… so sheer light fabrics (which go hand-in-hand with Beach Weddings) get blown around

And sometimes… not in a good way

I didn’t wear a veil, but I have a few Wedding Photos where the wind was such, that I don’t like a particular Wedding Photo because of what the wind was doing to my hair, my dress (blowing back on me, clinging to my legs) etc.

A veil can be particularly problematic in the wind

BUT that said, if you’ve always dreamed of wearing one… go for it.  As shown by the # 2 Pic you’ve posted when all the elements come together, then they can make for great photos.  Just be prepared for the fact that there may be a lot of duds in the mix as well… if I had it to do over again, I probably would have allowed for MORE time for Beach Photos… because even on a good day (no wind or beach scenario) a Photographer will shoot 3 to 5 Photos to get one really excellent one.  Stuff to think about, and talk over with your Photographer pre-Wedding.

    Hope this helps,

@Future_MrsReeves:  They thread tiny weights in the seam, you can’t see them.  If you are worried about seeing them, then check out Duchess Kate’s wedding pics because her veil was absolutely weighted down.

I recently had a beach wedding and didn’t wear a veil. I didn’t want to worry about it and don’t regret my decision at all.

I love the look of a dramatic, billowing veil at a beach wedding. Makes for gorgeous photos!

I am having a beach wedding too and will be wearing a veil. At first I didnt want a veil but then I found the one that matches my dress perfectly and thought hey when else will I get the chance to wear a veil. Mine will be a long chapel veil which should help with any wind. Mine also has beading on it which will weigh it down a little too.
