He should shave it! It is for one very special day, and he needs to look nice in his pictures… If he does that for you, then offer to do something extra special on the wedding night… Maybe he will do it if he feels like he is getting something out of it.

It’s a show on A&E (I think?) about a group of rednecks who became super rich by developing some amazing duck call.
I’d ask him to compromise and trim it. Fiance normally shaves down to a goatee in the summer, but I love his beard, so he keeps it around. However, he also keeps it neatly trimmed and groomed.

if he has had a beard for the most of your relationship, let him keep the beard. just make sure it is trimmed and looks nice.
if the beard is a new thing, then beg him to shave.

Duck Dynasty is a reality TV show about a family in Louisiana who made a fortune after they founded a Duck Call company. The men in the family all have huge, long beards, which is what the OP was referencing. 🙂

@ShabbyChicBee: I agree with PPs, he needs to shave! If he really won’t I have a feeling his mother will have something to say about it too. Maybe she could be instrumental in helping you with this?

@ShabbyChicBee: I too would beg him to shave!
My dad went through a similar phase with his gotee (long, scraggily, etc) and I BEGGED him to shave it before my HS graduation cuz we would look back on these photos for decades to come…. the day came and he still refused… now he keeps a nice tidy close-to-his-face gotee and we look back on that time and cringe!
BEG! PLEED! CUT IT IN THE NIGHT IF YOU HAVE TO! lol
jk about the last one but let him know your wedding is a time to be timeless and his beard will come and go but on your wedding day you want to see his FACE which will be by your side for the rest of your life…
DONT GIVE UP!!!!!

His face, his choice. All you can do is voice your opinion and leave it be. Sounds like he almost always has a beard so it’s not like it’s out of the ordinary for him. It would be like you always wearing your hair down and him demanding that you wear it in a pony tail for the wedding…because that’s how he likes it.

I think trimming is best option. You said beard is part of his identity. I think he will understand if you tell him how you feel.

After googling duck dynasty, I will say the beard needs to be trimmed – it can be long, but he needs to go to a barber and have it trimmed and shaped. I’m taking all my lads for hot shaves the morning of the wedding; perhaps suggest that? It’s like a spa treatment. But, you are marrying him, beard and all. If he’s to have a beard, it needs to be groomed for special occasions.

I’d want him to shave it.

lolz! I am going thru the EXACT same thing!! My Fiance is a total redneck hunter and has been growing his beard out too. Our (hopefully) compromise is he can have it for the engagement pictures (which is a camo and truck theme, again for him!), but for the wedding I’d like it to be trimmed up a bit for a cleaner look. I LOVE Duck Dynasty!! Can’t wait for the new shows next week!
