Ceremony will be just us and our daughters. Not Tofino or Banff or Tremblant or Toronto. Anywhere else that would be pretty and scenic and maybe even unique. No big reception venue needed, budget it not a big issue. Just need a beautiful spot where we could do the ceremony, with access to a decent dinner and fairly high end hotel afterwards. 🙂 And available on short notice!
(Looking to do this in October / November)

Are you open to the Banff national park area? Moraine Lake is stunningly beautiful, but is closer to Lake Louise than Banff itself. Also, Jasper is lovely too.

Emerald Lake Lodge in Field is beautiful as is Lake Louise but not sure if they allow elopements.

Banff is beautiful and popular- but you should know it was built on slave labor. German prisoners of war during WW2 and European immigrants were forced to build Banff and clear every trail. They were not given adequate food or clothing and many died, buried unmarked where they died instead of carrying the bodies back to base.

I love the look of Moraine Lake, and it would totally be my first choice, but he took his horrendous ex-wife to Banff, and I’m not super inclined to go anywhere that “they” already had memories- would rather make some new ones of our own. 🙂 Not sure if it would be possile to visit the area without going to any of the same places… would like to keep hearing hearing about other options for sure.

I love Jasper in AB.
Collingwood, ON is gorgeous too. I love the Scandinave spa- might be nice to soak the next morning.
Little wedding chapel in Niagara is adorable and small
Halifax has some pretty waterfront areas if you’re interested in NS. If mountains are more your thing Gros Morne is to die for. Not a ton of upscale eateries, but tons of cute rustic places.
Are you ruling out any provinces?

aharcam : I second Little Wedding Chapel in Niagara (on Lundy’s Lane, lots of restaurant’s a stone’s throw away, major hotels and Niagara Falls about 10 minutes away)
Also in the Niagara Region, Niagara-on-the-Lake has quaint shops, upscale hotels, gorgeous wineries. Recommend The Pillar & Post.
Niagara on the Lake is a 15-20 minute drive from Niagara Falls, so you could conceivably get married at the Little Wedding Chapel, see Niagara Falls, drive to NOTL for dinner and nice hotel.

harpercait : Are you looking for an indoor or outdoor ceremony venue? The Okanagan (BC) is stunning.
If you want outdoor, Sanctuary Gardens in West Kelowna, BC is absolutly breathtaking. Many hotel venues to choose from for a reception venue in Kelowna.
Also, some other beautiful places are:
Sparkling Hills (Vernon, BC)
Guisachan House Restaurant (Kelowna, BC)
Duralli Villa (Vernon, BC)
El Dorado Hotel (Kelowna, BC)
I am from that area so if you have any questions feel free to ask 🙂

Loved the idea of Fogo Island, but man… that’s pricey… even for a generous budget. No way we would do that w 3 kids in tow… (cheapest room = $1600, and we’d need 2 adjoining rooms…)

I’d say the Skyline Trail in Cape Breton. Restaurants in the area might be pretty seasonal though. October would be best due to that and the foliage.

HoneysHoney : Wowww!! Beautiful!

North Arm Farm in Pemberton BC is gorgeous!
Or at the Sea to Sky Gondola in Squamish BC!
(I’m from Vancouver if you have any questions about the area)

harpercait : Prince Edward Island? It is utterly gorgeous there in October. Well, all year, but the fall colors are amazing.

harpercait : It’s not a difficult hike at all either. Mostly flat packed gravel until you get out in the open and then it’s a boardwalk along the mountain ridge with stellar ocean view. There are a lot of really nice airbnb’s in the village of Cheticamp which is near by as well.
