I’ve tried figuring out on my own using some guides online. But I’m not sure what I am! I think I have pink or peach undertones… Not sure which, and by my understanding if it’s pink, then I’m cool…. and if it’s peach, I’m warm. Or am I one of the rare ones and am I nuetral?!
It would be nice to know this stuff, I’m getting ready to start picking out my wedding mkeup to do it myself.
Here’s a picture of me without any makeup in natural lighting. (Above)
I have olive green eyes, and NATURALLY brunette hair with red tints. I now dye my hair red.
This is me 5 years ago: dyed hair/ but close to natural color (The brown.. not the two tone black at the bottom, lol. It was my “punkish” stage). This was from prom, and I spent weeks trying to tan. I can tan, but it takes awhile. Clearly.. I didn’t know how to blend my makeup. (Face and Body are different colors.)
This was me in November:
With dyed red hair
I did the vein trick, it’s too hard to tell. They’re really deep.
My engagement ring is silver, but gold doesn’t look bad either.
ERGH! Help please! 🙂

Cool undertones. Pink is cool, yellow is warm when it comes to painting/makeup (except at MAC for some weird reason, MAC has it reversed, which makes no sense). You definitely look like you have pink undertones from your pics imo. I’m not sure what “season” you are…?

@DeathByDesign: Thanks for your help! Yeah, the season thing is what colors look best on you, it relates to the undertones and stuff… but none of my colors line up with a direct season. 🙁
So I don’t know what looks best! lol

@mandigrl04: Well idk about the season thing, lol, but I have very very pink undertones and yellow-green eyes. I find that pinks and bronze/gold colours are flattering on my skin and bring out my eyes. I actually used pink eyeshadow on my wedding day (which actually looked really natural on my skin lol)
Perhaps go to a makeup counter and ask them to do a look for you that would look nice with your coloring? If you like what they do, use that as inspiration!

@DeathByDesign: I’ve seen several of your wedding pictures floating around and you had some amazinggggg wedding makeup!
I’ve been to Sephora a few times and they picked out, what I thought were, reaalllyyy warm colors. So thats another confusing trend to me. I think it’s because of the red hair? Not sure.
I just get told that there’s alot of “warm colors” going on.
Hmph. Confusing makeup counter people!

@mandigrl04: Aw, thanks! 🙂
To be fair… it might be hard to tell your actual complexion from the photos. From the pics it just looks to me like you have cool undertones.
Maybe just experiment by yourself in Sephora lol? Or go to another makeup place?
I hope you figure it all out lol!

@DeathByDesign: Lol Yeah I think I might experiment by myself. haha.
I have always thought that I do have the pink undertone – which would be cool… but those dang consultants trip me up!
Thanks for some confirmation!

I agree that you have pink undertones. But I also don’t think you need to live hard and fast by any particular makeup rule. Did you like the colors that the people at Sephora picked out for you? Just go with what looks good on you, regardless of whatever supposed “tone” the colors are. 🙂

You might be a spring or a summer… All I know if you are definitely not a winter. I can’t decide if you have warm or cool undertones. I would say cool, but usually people with freckles are warm. Green eyes and light to medium brown hair usually lines up with spring. To tell if you are warm or cool, do you look better in gold (warm) or silver (cool). Did you do the vein test? blue (cool) green (warm). Do you look better in pure white (cool) or off-white (warm).

In the first pic, your skin looks pinkish so I’d say it’s cool, but in the second photo it looks a bit warm. In the last pic, your skin looks like mine and I’m neutral. That doesn’t help right? lol It’s really hard to tell from the photos.
Like someone else suggested, wear what you know looks good on you or try a different makeup counter to get another opinion. I’ve learned what looks good with my skin mostly by experimenting on my own.

In the first photo, you look pink, but in the other two, peach. I’d go to a MAC counter and buy $60 bucks worth of makeup to get the free application. They will explain to you everything and give you a diagram of how to apply your makeup. (Best to make an appointment.)
PS, I have olive-toned skin, but my skin is medium-light. That makes buying foundation really hard, because most makeup companies assume you only have olive skin if you have darker skin. Lies, I tell you. Pink and yellow foundations make me look ridiculous.

Cool. you should talk to someone at Bare Escentials store too, they can help you find your right coloring shades.

If I had to guess based upon your pics, I think you’re a spring and would look best in warm, clear, bright shades. It’s been a number of years since I’ve had my face in a “Color Me Beautiful” book, but below is my best recollection of the season descriptions.
Spring = Warm, Clear, Bright colors
Summer = Cool, Muted, Soft colors
Fall = Warm, Muted, Deep colors
Winter = Cool, Clear, Bright colors

@yearns4god: Problem with Bare Escentuals, which I wear and love, is that it does not photograph well. The amount of sunscreen in the foundation makes it look white on film, so wear it on a normal day, but not your wedding day.

WOW! So many responses! I thought I was only going to get deathbydesign! Thanks everyone!
AshleyR83: Yeah, I don’t live and dye by color rules, it’s just something nice to know. 🙂 Especially when picking out foundation for DIY wedding makeup! The Sephora girl kept saying that I had alot of warm tones. Grantid, their lighting in there is kinda janky. I always feel like my color is off in there. She ended up giving me really warm makeup and it when I got out – it looked okay. But it made me feel more tan, darker then what I normally am and a little “muddy”. Not sure if the coloring was off, or just wasn’t what I was used to.
@EleanorRigby: Yeah I tried all those tests, and it’s still hard to tell. I like the way silver looks, so I might be biased. My veins are a blue-ish green… kinda a teal lol if I cn even see them, they’re so deep. My dress is off-white, but the white didn’t look bad either. Champange looked horrible though. Maybe I’m neutral? Idk. lol Thanks for the Spring or Summer vote though! That helps for sure!
@MrsBlueSeptember: Yeah it does help! Maybe I am a neutral… maybe it more depends on my hair color at the time too.
@mrsSonthebeach: I think I may try mac soon. I’ve been a die hard Sephora girl… but I think it’s time to branch out. 🙂
@yearns4god: I might have to try there too! Thanks!
@Brielle: Thanks! So I have a few votes for spring, so this helps to narrow it down!
