I have ipsy and most months it’s pretty mediocre, but it has given me my holy grail lipstick (Meet Matte Hughes in Committed AKA bae) so I haven’t deactivated it. I also love the little makeup bags they give you, I think I’m using all of mine for something. They’re the perfect size to discreetly hold tampons (lol)

I have birchbox too and it’s the same, mediocre but it’s given me 3 products that have been absolutely home runs for me. I just signed up for the Sephora Play box too… I have a problem with subscription boxes 😛

I wasnt impressed with Birchbox, like Ipsy a lot ($10/month) and so far love my Sephora Play subscription ($10).  I’d strongly recommend Ipsy or Sephora Play.

i get birchbox and ipsy and i like them. i’ve gotten some really great things from both and i’ve gotten some duds from both too. from my experience, ipsy is more makeup and birchbox is more skincare and haircare.

i love being able to try new stuff and all the mini sizes are perfect for travel or to keep in my purse. and since i’ve had my subcriptions, i’ve stopped buying so much makeup “just because.” i pretty much only buy when i run out of something (which doesn’t happen that often with all the samples i get). it can get a bit repetitive sometimes- i’ve recieved so many nude/gold eye shadows from ipsy and several eyeliners between the two- but it’s all stuff i like and use and like i said before, it’s good to have a stash of makeup for traveling or to keep in my purse.

I’m resurrecting this thread because I’ve been looking into beauty subscription boxes to shake up my makeup/skincare routine.

Bees, any preferences? I signed up for birchbox, but I’m thinking about doing a second like ipsy, glossybox or julep maven. I’m personally really interested in glossybox and julep maven, but since they’re $20 a month, they’re a little intimidating to me.

I get Boxycharm.  I signed up for 6 months at once when I got paid for my unused sick days.  It is always a good value on paper.  Most items in the box are around 20 dollars, and you only pay 21.  They’re almost always full size, and if one isn’t, then they usually have 6 items in the box.  I’ll probably take a break from it to save money for wedding and honeymoon, as this is my last box from the 6 months.  Once I use up some of my stuff, I’ll probably renew it!

Completely different than the other services above, but I subscribe to http://www.lolibeauty.com. It’s like blue apron for beauty.

stephlynn:  I’ll have to look at boxycharm! It sounds similar to glossybox, which I’d love to get, but $21 a month seems a little high for items I may or may not like. Thanks for the suggestions, ladies!

larissakay:  The way I look at it is, if I like just one or two items, then the box was paid for.  It would cost me more to order something from sephora, especially considering shipping.  I’m gonna try the fit fun fab box after our wedding/honeymoon expenses.
