My fiance had started asking what type of rings i liked (he thought he was being discreet about it) and he knew that my main wants, were for it to be vintage/antique and NOT TOO EXPENSIVE! (I actually gave him a maximum price i didnt want him to exceed lol) My gf and i went to the store i had hoped to get it from and tried on a whole bunch and the ladies actually kept a log of the ones i liked… I told him to speak to my Girlfriend when the time came and she would help him…They both tell me that he went to the store on his own, and skyped her in for advisement… She tells me that the ladies showed him the rings i had originally chosen along with some others and he went with his gut, choosing one that I hadnt seen before. The ring is more beautiful than any i had chosen and I couldnt love it anymore…the fact that he knew me well enough to pick it, makes it even better!

turner1510 :  That’s an awesome update! I bet it’s going to work out wonderfully for you!

In response to your original post, I pretty much did the same exact thing. I gave him a list of about 10 rings and let him choose from there. He was not offended at that point since we had done so much talking about it prior and I said if I had to wear this ring for the rest of my life, I was going to have a say in it. Making a list for him to choose from (so it still would be a surprise) was our compromise lol.
