When ‘bee-ing’ a Bride – Doesn’t come “naturally”
Since joining this blog I have joined the world of Moissanite, bought a dress from Light In The Box and learned that you can have a wedding that is utterly perfect without following any rules!
I’ve been reading your posts and checking out your DIY’s for well over a year and you all seem to just naturally be the most amazing brides to ever walk down the aisle. All of you individual, classic, creative and knowledgable. So naturally I thought I would be too.
Well I was wrong!
It all began with dress shopping.
Four things I did not want were:
1. A strapless dress.
2. A corset or lace up dress and
3. A one shouldered dress.
4. A mermaid dress.
(It didn’t leave me many options I can tell you!)
I am only about 5’1 and my body alone give limitations to what types of dresses are suitable. Don’t get me wrong. I love all those types of dresses, but just didn’t think they would work on my body.
So far I have been WRONG on my first two dress purchases! – Yes TWO, but the third one I got it spot on – and love my choice
Number 1. – I DID NOT want a strapless dress – so naturally – I bought a strapless J Crew Sascha.
WRONG CHOICE NUMBER ONE!
(Can I say though, the dress is AMAZING…I adore it and love looking at it but seriously, I just can’t do it justice lol – what an awful look on me xox But I still pour over pictures of other brides who look unbelievable in this dress)
If you want to see how this dress should look – check out this little number here!
Totally ADORABLE and the whole reason I bought the dress!
Number 2 – I didn’t want a lace up corset back – So naturally – I bought another STRAPLESS dress with a lace up corset back from Light In The Box.
WRONG CHOICE NUMBER TWO.
(Again, the dress is unbelievable…if your considering a dress from there, you won’t be disapointed in the quality -seriously). This dress was lovely, but I think because I hadn’t wanted a strapless dress or a corset back I kept an eye out for others I might also like. Or perhaps I just bought one way toooo early!)
Again – this is what lead me to choose this dress and I honestly believe I could have worn it and loved it for the rest of my life. ( In the pics, I have had no alterations made yet)
Number 3. A one shouldered fit and flare/Mermaid Dress
I didn’t want a mermaid or fit and flare dress because I thought it might cut me in half at 5’1. But this time it was me who was WRONG!
I absolutely love Vera Wang for bringing this dress to the average bee’s!
This dress isn’t available in Australia so I was lucky enough to pick it up BNWT on Ebay. At the time in the pics I didn’t have the Vera Wang sash yet – but was lucky enough to also pick one up on Ebay! Yay for the global bridal trade!
The next big question is – the veil! Hopefully this won’t take me three attempts as well.
I started with the original idea of a birdcage veil, then decided absolutely NO VEIL and finally I ordered the Vera Wang Walking length veil from another Bee who decided not to use it. It is currently travelleing across the globe in the mail.
So here I am – showing how absolutely NON NATURAL I AM at attempting all things bridal (with the veil meant for the J Crew Sascha lol)
Bee-ing a Bride is such hard work!
If anyone can help me figure out how you tie this Vera Wang sash
I DEFINITELY NEED YOUR HELP!
There have been plenty more UH-OHs but thats enough for one day!
THanks for all the help so far bees x Its been fun.
