I experienced this, too. And it’s really, really tough. So many things went wrong– my hair/makeup stylist cancelled the morning of my wedding. She sent two replacements (just friends in the industry), but they were totally incompetent. And I made one cry because she made me cry because she just wasn’t doing my hair like my trial and sucked at makeup. Then my girls couldn’t adequately fluff my crinoline and I tripped over my untrippable dress, and the coordinator just stood there like an idiot. Then my baker, who I loved, broke the middle tier of my cake, so I only had two tiers, and she screwed up the flavors. Then, the coordinator failed to tell me that the penguins were waiting (no one told me the time while I was trying to get bustled, and the penguins get agitated after being out for so long), so their portion was cut super short and our guests didn’t get to have pictures with them, as promised. Oh, and the caterer totally screwed up the meals.
You are not alone. I got through it because our DJ and photographers were amazing. And we had little kids who lit up my night. I can go through our pictures and be happy. To be honest, the whole day still doesn’t sit well with me, but I’m able to just let go. Like you, we spent so much money and just didn’t get what I thought we would. My husband is thrilled and he loved every second of our wedding. The other saving grace was our honeymoon. It was amazing! My Maid/Matron of Honor jokes with me that at least that part went well.
It’s still so fresh to you, but I promise your guests thought your wedding was beautiful. All they will remember is how stunning you and your husband looked and how happy you are together. We’re still getting compliments about our wedding, and I just bite my tongue and say thank you because I didn’t see what they saw– I wish I did!
Take a breath and enjoy your husband. Your marriage is really what matters.
