@kmarie719: The Luminious Lagoon looks great! I’ve only been to Ochos Rios which is on the other side of the country but I was nervous being in town. I was younger and a friend of mine and I were walking through town and were followed by a local, offered drugs {no surprise} and even had a cop whistle at us. I guess now I’m just super turned off by that area – however we did the Dunn River Falls and had a really fun time. I would recommend going to climb the falls if you find the means to get to that side.

Some friends of ours did a Couples Resort somewhere in Jamaica and very well could have been Negril but they had nothing but great things to say! As far as getting places, you could be adventurous and rent a car? Otherwise I’m sure the hotel has a taxi service they use that would be safe.

@kmarie719:  I spent a week in Negril last year and it was lovely! So laid back! Most of our time was spent hanging with the locals. Wonderful people! We did take a sunset catamaran cruise. There were 12 of us on the catamaran. Each couple was from a different country. It was fabulous! We were served rum punch while we listened to some great reggae music. The boat took us out by some cliffs where we were able to get out and snorkle. We saw some pretty cool fish. Aftwerwards, we went to Rick’s Cafe to watch the divers (we later went back and spent an evening at Rick’s cafe). Loved it! The catamaran served us jerk chicken dinner and more rum punch on the way home. The sunset was so beautiful from the boat! We took taxis all over Negril and always felt safe. Actually, you can walk almost anywhere in Negril. We never felt uncomfortable and were sometimes walking home at 2am. I have friends who did the zipline/ATV tour out of Montego Bay. They loved it!
