Maybe they wanted it that way 😉

Just kidding – but I was a Bridesmaid or Best Man at a wedding where the underwear became visible in the Sun..we felt terrible when the pictures came out but we honestly didn’t notice before then.

But yeah, if its glaringly obvious it should definitely be said!! Its like lipstick on the teeth/foundation line/run in the stockings…a friend tells a friend!

That’s a tough one.  I typically only advise people of these things if they DO something about it, but I’d be willing to bring up the subject if I had a solution.

yea, as pp said, if there’s nothing you can really do about it…then it would just cause stress.  i dunno what i would do in that situation, was it colored underwear? or white underwear? maybe if it was colored i’d run out and find white for her, but other than that, what else can you do? sticky situation.

One of my friends had this issue a few years ago. As soon as she stepped outside it was obvious her panties showed through her chiffon dress. She actually ditched them in a bush then walked down the aisle and attended the reception commando, lol.

My youngest sister wore a white dress (don’t worry – it was on my request).
I had a casual friend at our house the morning of the wedding helping us get ready, as she had no where to be and did not know anyone else in the city. Turned out she was a FANTASTIC help to have around and was super thankful to have an extra pair of hands who was not involved in the weedding. She was the one to point out that my sister’s zebra print undies were clearly visable! A total stranger to my sister – but she was eternally thankful!
I would definitely say something (stranger or no stranger) as I would desperately want someone to tell me if that were the case! One person politely pointing out the mistake could save massive embarrassment in front of everyone, and pictures being ruined! Much like 7-9-11, I would totally ditch them too!

Was it underwear or underwear lines? Aren’t there slips under the dresses to prevent this? Crazy!

That is so bizarre–I’ve never heard of that (or seen it) before.

Yes! I was in a girl’s wedding who was having that issue. Luckily they realized it at her final fitting and bought all sorts of undergarmets and slips to try to fix it. We spent the day before having her try everything on and looking to see if we could see her undies.

@Miss Tattoo: That’s what I thought too.  I mean, shouldn’t dress makers be aware of this and try to avoid this possibility?

I’m curious, were most of the dresses chiffon or tule or some other light fabric?  Is it it crazy that this worries me now?

Anyone else suddenly paranoid about this, or is it just me? 😉

I thought there was so much fabric on wedding dresses that that was nearly impossible. Hm.

My tailor actually warned me about this. She said a lot of girls like to wear blue underwear as their something blue (I did) and she said that many times in the sun or in the photographs afterwards you can see the darker underwear. I had no idea! We actually checked to make sure there was no show through, but yeah, dont wear dark underwear if you are worried about this!
