Looks good.  Would it be cheaper to use regular mason jars instead of beer bottles?

Also, I’m painting the inside of mason jars rather than the outside for my centerpieces.  It makes them nice and shiny, though it takes a bit away from the rustic/shabby chic look.

@peachacid:  It might be cheaper, but then you dont get to drink the beer Undecided. I do agree with spray painting the inside of the jars though. With the cheapy $1 spray paint I use, the paint ends up chipping on the outside. ETA, nvm OP wants them distressed so painting on the outside is best in this case

@sheepandbear:  The beer we drink comes in darker bottles, so that wouldn’t work, I think.

I found this paint at Michael’s that’s only 69 cents a little bottle…which means it’s about a dollar or so for each painted jar.  It’s um…American Craft brand?  Something like that.  I am experimenting with baking the jars to make them waterproof.  I’ll test that tomorrow and let you know what I discover.

Here are three pictures…I think we’re only going to use the blue opaque and clear ones, not the other colors. In the last one, the jar on the left is painted on the outside, and the one on  the right is painted on the inside.
