Right. Well, I got engaged (for the first time) at 36, with a .25 carat diamond solitare.  People in their thirties on the one hand might be financially better off (I certainly am, compared to my 20s!), but on the other hand, at this age  I’m also a lot less likely to give a damn what anyone but my fiance and I think about my ring.

We love it, by the way. It’s perfect in every way – ESPECIALLY size.  And if anyone else doesn’t like it, well, what am I doing wasting time with people who are going to be snotty about my engagement ring? Screw ’em.

I know I have a much better ring since we are older and more financially secure. He chose a really excellent diamond because he could  It’s over a ct, VVS 1 and an f/g in color.

Got engaged at 33 and I have a 1.78ct OMC diamond – J/K color, VS1, strong blue fluorescence.

In my circle of friends, I do notice larger stones on those that got engaged in recent years but then again, we live in the DC area so it’s not uncommon for women in their 20’s to rock a 2ct+.

I have a 0.6 oval D VS2 with 0.33 CTW of pave/sidestones. Sorry to keep spamming everyone with pics but I can’t help it, it’s so beautiful!

I picked out my ring and I’ve always loved smaller diamonds because I have long, thin fingers, so Fiance was very happy when he found out the price! We were both 31 when we got engaged.

I was 35 now, (I was 30 andFI was 25 when we got engaged) and I have a 1.3 ct diamond.  No plans or need to upgrade.  I dont think there’s a “norm” for age so much as just for the area.  I’m in the Boston area and this is a pretty average size for everyone i know getting engaged no matter the age.
