SoNLoveWithHim:  My DH & I paid for our entire wedding in cash, yourselves. It took us a 5 month engagement, and living far below our means to afford it though.

I personally feel if  one  can’t either pay in cash or put on credit cards and pay the balance in full, then they should not have a wedding they can’t afford. That is just me. We are going to Vegas so it’s not expensive. Flights, hotel, dress, rings, chapel, photography, and limo paid in full.

Does paying off debt in order to have room to put wedding stuff on credit count? If we had to be dedt free before we got married we would be waiting at least 5 years.

We are kind of paying-as-we-go. We put x amount of money into the wedding fund every month. We have about 8k invested in the wedding thus far, and so far, we think our wedding will cost a total of around 14k. We will be debt free the day of the wedding, we are paying for the wedding ourselves with a very small contribution from my mom [about $300 for alcohol].

I’m paying for the whole wedding…by myself smh…(except rings) I refuse to be in debt so my budget is no more than $7000 with an engagement of 19 months. the only thing I will use a credit card for is his ring (my credit history is young and I need more of a history so we can buy a house in the next 5 years)

We’re in the same situation, Fiance and I are paying for the entire wedding ourselves and will have it paid off way before the wedding (already technically do).  I refused to go into debt for our wedding.

SoNLoveWithHim:  We also are paying for our entire wedding without incurring any debt. We know our parents have monetary gifts for us but as a wedding gift (recieved on the wedding day). We are budgeting 25/30k not including honeymoon or the cost to get some dental work done for myself (that i really want to have done). I completely agree that it is amazing how much you can save when you really want to 🙂

Bookaholic:  As long as you’re not going further into debt for the wedding I think it’s okay. There’s no way Fiance and I will be totally debt free before our wedding either even though the wedding will be PIF. Way too much in student loans and financed cars, unfortunately. <br />
