@Miss Fish: You’d have to look into local rental companies to see what’s available and the pricing. I’ve seen some hive members get awesome deals, but it really seems to vary by region. Honestly, because our venue didn’t offer much in the way of supplies (tables, chairs, etc) and we had to rent it all, it likely cost us twice as much as going to a hall where everything including food and drink is included in your price per head. Yikes. BUT again, this varies by region, what your venue provides, and the choices you make. My venue did have some black plastic folding chairs, but not enough for all our guests and they were not my taste, so we ended up renting Chiavari chairs.

Most tents go in 10′ increments and can be expanded nearly infinitely it seems! Plus if you needed 2 tents they can put a rain gutter between the two in case of inclement weather and if you put the dance floor in the middle with the tables around it (like a big square), it really wouldn’t feel like two tents. Figure 100 square feet per table and go from there to figure out your sizing, and then add the dance floor. Most tent rental companies have handy little calculators and sizing guides on their website to help you figure it out.

@Miss Fish: Thank you!! 🙂 All my lanters were in various sizes between 14″ – 24″ I don’t like little dinky lanterns, so the smallest I went was 14. So I had 14,16,22, and 24. And with all these various sizes they size contrast was just right.

@Miss Fish: FYI, I also used different size lanterns – 10″ (blue), 12″ (green), 16″ (orange) and 18″ (white)… I think if you have enough of the larger ones, and you can hang them close together, you can get away with some smaller ones and save some $$ that way. The larger the space/the higher they’re hung, the more you’ll need of the larger sizes.

@Miss Fish: It’s beautiful!!!!  By the way, keep in mind that when you use outdoor space, you usually don’t need to decorate nearly as much…  saves $$ and time/effort!

Hi MissFish!

I am in a similar situation!  I have always wanted a beautiful outdoor wedding but so many people have tried to talk me out of it because of the rain.  I like in Cleveland, OH but am attempting to have my wedding in Youngstown since this is where are families are from.  I would still love to have a garden/outdoor wedding.  Have you come across any other options besides the one that you will be using?  I would appreciate any help!!!

Thanks!
