@honeybee111:  I greatly prefer zipper backs. I find corset backs to look fussy. I like the clean, modern look of a zip back.

I also find them lazy. Not on the bride’s part but the designer’s.  Too often I see dresses that rely on the corset for shape and visual interest when design and construction would have created a much more flattering result.  This is much the same argument I have against strapless dresses.

My dress had a zippered back (like many of the Bees said before – it was truly the buttons that did me in). I also love the picture my photographer was able to capture of my mom and sister helping me into my dress. I’m sure you could get a similar shot with a corset back; I just don’t think my dress design would have worked with it.

I prefer the look of a (covered) zipper but really wanted a corset because of the flexibility with sizing and not having to worry about getting it resized. Mine was a covered zipper (with buttons) but was so tight that I couldn’t eat anything on my wedding day 🙁

I had a corset back on my dress and I’m glad I did because I lost more weight before the wedding even after the alterations and having a corset back made it easy to pull the dress tight 🙂

For me, Im hourglass and look best in formfitting dresses so corset and sweetheart end up making me look overly sexy so I avoided them. Depends on a bride’s figure and preferred level of sexiness – on me and for the dress styles that look best on me, corset starts looking a bit too Jessica rabbit.

I LOVE corset backs…Fiance and I have an *ahem* spicy sex life so yes, it’s a bit of an allusion to our other side without being overtly sexy.  I wear real corsets on a regular basis and will have one under my dress as well since a dress corset isn’t exactly a true one.

I have a zip back that’s hidden under a layer of illusion buttons, could not be happier, it’s so easy to get in and out of!

I think the corset back is pretty, but I went with a hidden zipper myself. I liked how low maintenance it was.

I didn’t care either way.  I went with the dress I loved the best, no matter which back it had.  It happens to be a zip.  My sister/MOH thought is very happy she doesn’t have to lace me in!

@EffieTrinket:  That exists! My dress has an internal corset that pulls the waist in beautifully, then a zipper and buttons! It’s an Enzoani, and every dress from them I tried on had this feature, surely other designers have it too, but I can’t name any.

@Future_Mrs_Dr_I:  Awesome! My seamstress is putting rows of loops on one interior panel, and a row of hooks on the other side, so hopefully it will achieve the same effect. I tried to get her to do an internal lace-up thing, but no dice. Guess I should have bought an Enzoani!

@EffieTrinket:  That’s a cool idea! Well, the internal corset doesn’t lace up, but trust me, that sucker gets tight! It has rows of hooks like the back of a bra.

I adore the corset!  Less alterations and it just fits so much better if you gain or lose weight:)

@honeybee111:  I think zipper with buttons would be best. Think Monique Ll and Vera
