Okay Bees, the fiancé and I had a discussion last night about whether you wear your engagement ring down the isle and during the ceremony.. He says that “it’s just not done” because I think it is! During the vows, when the ring part comes along, he’ll just slide the e-ring off and wedding band on, followed by e – ring again.
So what did/do you intend do? Engagement Ring during ceremony or not?

Most brides I’ve seen do… except they switch it to their right hand (of course, if it doesn’t fit the right hand it’s a moot point). I have seen brides still wear it on their left hand and then flip the rings after ceremony…
For traditional Jewish weddings (what I’m having) you put the wedding rings on the index finger (for the ceremony only, I’ll wear it with my ering afterwards!) so I’ll just leave my ering where it is.

I wore my e-ring on my left hand, then after the ceremony I just took them off and flipped them around.

I am planning to wear it on my left hand (will be wearing my grandmother’s ring on my right hand). I don’t think you need to take the ering off during the ceremony to put the wedding band in the “right” place. I will just switch them around after the ceremony.

@Brooke1226: i read that you just wear your engagement ring on your right hand during the ceremony and then switch to the left after ceremony. That is likely what I will do… We are getting married in gold bands and then I think before cocktail hour starts and we will have a moment to ourselves when I would like us to place our diamond band/titanium band on each other.

My ring and e-ring are a set, I plan on wearing my e-ring on my left hand and just switching my rings after the ceremony.

Lol…this is a very helpful post for me…a question I’ve been meaning to ask but it kept slipping my mind. Thanks!

huh…! I’m the only one so far to vote ‘no’. I did consider wearing it on my right hand, but I just didn’t want any stuff on my fingers so I gave it to my mom for safekeeping until afterwards.

I’m pretty sure I wore it, mostly b/c I was so worried about losing it. Honestly, I have NO recollection of switching it around with my wedding ring, or at what point I did that. (I think I had it on my right hand until after the vows?) I just know I thought about it a great deal and was probabl yreally nervous about getting it right, lol!

I also wore it on my right, and changed to my left when we signed our marriage license.

I did the same as many PPs – had it on like usual, wedding band was slipped on top and then I flipped it later. 🙂 I didn’t like the idea of not wearing it for 1/3 of my wedding day!

A lot of people wear it on their right hand. But I’m going to wear it on my left had where it always is, then he will slide the wedding ring on top of it, and I’ll switch their order after the ceremony.
