My parents were never married. They were together for 12 years and knew each other growing up. They had a house together, cars, worked together, the whole works, but were just never married. The split up when I was 2 and my mother remarried my step-dad who is AMAZING and they’ve been together for 24 years.

My parents were together for around seven years and never thought they would get married. They also thought they couldn’t have kids because of my mum’s kidney disease. When she got pregnant with me, they decided to get married, which was 25 years ago, and they’re still together. They’re kind of my role models when it comes to marriage because they are so compatible.
FI’s parents on the other hand- married about 25 years, divorced five years ago, according to Fiance should have divorced a long time earlier because they were miserable.

My parents were married 2 years before I was born and were married for 23 years until he passed away. They’d be married for 35 years now if he was still alive.

You really didn’t have a category for me. My parents married and were married for 45 years when my father passed away.
DH’s parents were married for over 50 years and died within a year of one another.

My parents have been married for 45 years, and they have fought like cats and dogs as long as I can remember. They’ve always been faithful and great parents, though.

I also want to add some unofficial votes to the “never married but still together category.” I know of two couples around my parents’ age that raised families but never were legally wed.

Mine have been married 41 years (will be 42 in November) and were married 9 before my brother came along and almost 15 before I did. What really boggles me… is that they started dating when mum was 15 & dad 17… so they’ve actually been together 47 years now!!! I still can’t get my head around that. 99% of the time happily married, 1% of the time I wonder how they manage to keep it going, lol 😉
They actually bought my grandparents house – where dad lived from when he was about 18 – and have lived there for almost 10 years now. I still find it eery & kind of awesome, especially when I put these photos together and I realised that truly not a lot has changed!

Yep they’re 38+ years married now. The ‘good’ ole days where people married young and stayed together. I wonder what the divorce rate was back then? Probably not as high as it is today.

Parents were married for 28 years (married in 1976, divorced in 2004). They’re still very good friends even though my dad remarried.

My parents got together at 14, married at 20, and have been married for 32 years. They are an inspiration to me.
My FI’s parents divorced when he was young. Both are on their second marriages.

My parents were engaged, but never married–they separated when I was 5 (just after my middle sister was born). They reconciled years later after my Dad’s Mum passed away (my Mum came with us to the funeral to pay her respects, and was a shoulder for my Dad to lean on). That lasted less than a year, however, as they’re really not suited for one another.

My parents have been married for 42 years. They got married before having kids.
