One of my best friends actually has thing ring. She has issues with the diamonds allllll of the time. She is actually thinking about trading it in for a Tolkowsky solitaire. She’s lost about 7 diamonds off of the sides so far and she didn’t even get hers resized, she was already a size 7.

I know and that really sucks. I couldn’t imagine trading my engagement ring in for something else just because of an issue with the diamonds. Have you had any trouble yet? And do you need it sized bigger or smaller? If I were in your shoes, I would go in and talk with the associate there. Maybe they could help out and tell you the best way to go, getting it sized or getting the gold balls put in instead.

Do you know what size you are??  Beads will not fix the problem if your ring is more than .5 – 1 size too big.  At the same time, a ring with side stones shouldn’t be sized more than 2 sizes because it will effect the integrity of the ring.

I have a similar ring and have not had any problems, but my ring isn’t from Kays, so I cannot give you advise on that specific ring.

Personally, I would either (1) return the ring; or (2) ask them to make a new one in my size.

My fiance bought my promise ring from Zales and they did not want to risk sizing it 3 sizes, so they ordered a brand new one in my size.  That was 3 years ago and I have yet to lose a diamond.  Good luck!

I don’t have your exact ring but mine is from the Neil Lane collection at Kays as well…I’ve read the same reviews on Kays and have been apprehensive as well.  Thankfully, I have had mine since June and it has been fine.  I am scheduled to bring it in next month for its “checkup”, so hopefully nothing will be amiss.  Did you get the protection plan?

I have had 2 different rings sized at Kay, both gemstones.  The first one, they didn’t take the stones out like you’re supposed to and the 3 center stones shattered and fell out.  The second one they also didn’t take the stone out because it came back to me so loose I could hear it whenever I moved.  I would take your ring to a different store and discuss sizing with them and how many sizes it would be taken down.  If they say it cannot be done safely, I might think about swapping rings.
