@hdivey:  I do think you need to offer more vegetables.  Even if you don’t have any vegetarians, people are into more healthy eating these days.

Maybe offer a salad, or veggie platters.

Are you doing any kind of appetizers? You can add in appetizers pretty cheaply. I also second salads. Both can be added cheaply.

I agree with @andielovesj  salads and veggies are a must! Also, how about some fresh corn on the cob and a pasta, potato, and/or maccaroni salad—cheap and easy too.

Also, you could do a bunch of bite sized hors d’oeuvres too!

@StormyRose:  I agree…throw some apps together…cheese and crackers, pigs in a blanket, etc. etc. They can be done very cheapy. Veggies is also a good idea and I think a salad will make it feel more “dinner like.”

I agree with some more veggie sides like salads or steamed fresh veggies. They shouldn’t be too pricey and depending on your headcount you might be able to handle these yourselves.

I was just going to say you should throw in a salad and maybe a cold pasta salad or something.  Or heck, even mac & cheese if you like good old fashioned comfort food.  I went to a wedding that had mostly food I didn’t care for, but then also h ad mac & cheese and i LOADED up on salad and mac!  Something to consider (and it’s cheap!)

Veggie and fruit trays would be great.

Definitely more veggies. Maybe some “Southern” ones, like okra or a green bean casserole? I mean, your menu sounds amazing, but as someone who hates coleslaw, I would have no veggies. : D

@Jenniphyr:  I’m a coleslaw hater too!  But salad is pretty universal – most people will eat a salad even if they don’t like other veggies – something to consider 🙂

I agree, add a salad and I think that is good.

We just had our wedding last month, had 105 people there. Our meal consisted of… mini caprese salad skewers, fruit arrangements  (pineapples with cheese/grapes attached) sliced beef, sliced pork, bbq chicken, baked beans and cole slaw.  We also had 3 salad trays.

The total cost for all food was less than $700. It can be done. People had options and they were good. The meat/beans/slaw were from the local bbq restaurant.
