In general, A-line styles are universally flattering.  I wouldn’t be afraid of color.  If you are going with different dresses from the same company, they will be the same color.

You should probably try things on in the store before emailing everyone.  Things look really different in person than they do online.  Also, most bridesmaids dress websites don’t post prices, and that is obviously a consideration.

Good luck!

You could have all the girls in the black one– and you in the bright blue.

I would lean towards the cobalt blue actually – the color just adds so much in my opinion.  If you order two different styles (one long for your and short for the other girls) from the same company in the same fabric/color they will mesh together perfectly so you really don’t need black to avoid that.

What kind of a neckline are you thinking (strapless, sweetheart, straps, halter, etc)?  I got my Bridesmaid or Best Man dresses from the Dessy After Six line and they are very affordable but really nice quality.  They have about 25 shades of blue available so I’m sure one of those would be the cobalt blue you’re looking for (it looks like the “Sapphire” color may be a great option!).

That makes me vote even more to go with the cobalt blue for the girl’s dresses!!  Black dresses with the (largely) navy Army Blues is a little plain / boring.  The cobalt will make it pop and I think it would look great against the Army Blues.

I actually wouldn’t like to see you in different length dresses.  And a cathedral sounds kind of formal.  I’d recommend having everyone in floor length.

Navy, cobalt blue and maybe a little pink or peach as accent would be a lovely colour scheme for the whole wedding. I agree that black might look a bit blah against the boys.

Also, a strong blue is flattering on pretty much everyone, no need for spray tan or anything.

I had thought about putting my Maid/Matron of Honor in floor length and my 4 other BMs in knee length but decided against it and went with all floor length.  I also think you should go with the blue!!
