Hi Bee’s –
My FI and I are starting to get really down about all the saving we are currently doing. Not only are we saving for a wedding, we are purchasing our first home (under contract) at the end of the month. There are SO many expenses it is overwhelming at times. We both miss going on dates but it’s really hard when we are trying to save money.
Can you bee’s give me some fun date ideas that are cheap or even free?
Last weekend we went to the beach, which was free and had a blast. Only thing is that it’s 2 hours from where we currently live, we were visiting our parents who live about 20 minutes from the beach.
Thanks for your post in advance!

Take a hike and stop for a picnic along the way. Bring cheeses, wine and small sandwiches… some sort of fruit also. Sounds superb to me!

Netflix + Pizza slices (cheese and toppings on bread, toasted) + a tub of icecream

Love the picnic idea!
Also, volunteering at a soup kitchen or shelter of some kind makes for a really fun weekend date and great bonding time =).

One of our favorites is to go to a local hilltop that overlooks the city. We bring a picnic and fly kites.

@glitter86: We are both trying to watch our diets and start working out again, we would be deadly with a tub of ice cream.

@Meant2Bee: picnic, indoor picnic, redbox (movies) and air popped popcorn, working out, going for a walk with uninterrupted quality time, learning how to play a new board game together

look on groupon/livingsocial (my fiance and I always seem to find comedy tickets on there for 15 dollars which includes food)
or see if any parks around you have free events like plays, concerts or movies (last summer the park by our house had free movies on a huge screen every Friday night)
Or just google free events with your city I always find something fun to do that way 🙂

If you have a drive in near your home that would be fun!… They are usually much cheaper than a regular movie theater and you can bring your own snacks!

hiking and picnic
art galleries sometimes have sculpture gardens that are free to walk around in
window shop on main street in a quaint/small town
summer is coming so look for street festivals in your area
summer also brings free outdoor movies in my area, maybe your area has them too.
make your own sundae, taco bar, etc night for dinner

Also, there are a lot of $1 movie theaters people don’t even know about! Try googling one near your area!
-arrange a game night with friends
-grab a coffee and go to the library
-minigolfing, bowling, ice skating
-visit a museum
-go on a drive to check out huge beautiful homes and pick out your future house =)

Sounds like some active activities might be right up your ally! Hiking, taking walks, running together (?) or playing a game like frisbee, soccer or tennis. We have been known to gather some friends and do a giant nerf battle – not exactly a date, but very fun.

Great idea’s! Just found out there’s a local BACON fest coming up. My FI and I both LOVE bacon!!

Work together to cook a new recipe. Read a book outloud, switch off each chapter. Bowling or mini golf. Attend a free concert, play, or public speaking event. Explore a new museum or historical site in your area. Volunteer together. Learn new card, board game or outdoor sport. If you are just dying to go to restaurant, consider going out to lunch together during the week – a lot cheaper than dinners out!
