Oh wow! I would politely tell them that they NEED to order their dresses VERY soon if they want them to fit right (if they are needing alterations)

@sheebsw: uh-oh! My dresses are through Dessy (After Six Maids) and I’ve only had my Maid/Matron of Honor order hers as of now. They said if all my BM’s ordered this month they wouldn’t be in until April, and every month later that they order, the arrival date gets pushed back a month.

I would call each one of them, tell them this HAS to be done ASAP! That you are willing to set aside a day for all of them and you to get together to go get them ordered!

Hmm that’s strange, my maid of honor, and one bridemaid both got their’s at Alfred Angelo, and they said 1 month. (The one month is not up yet.) but if you have heard this is the case, then I would tell them to get a move on in a nice way, haha.

I had this same exact problem and had to change dresses. We originally were going to order Watters Bridesmaid or Best Man dresses. They were not able to get them in on time. We switched to an Alfred Angelo dress which they were able to get in time for the wedding. Because they waited until the last minute, the price of the dress increased by $75 and then a $15 rush charge was added. I absolutely hated that they had to spend more… but I was in the same boat you are in.. only one girl had put in her order. Good luck to you!

What Alfred Angelo dress are your girls wearing?!

@Miss Beach: I would be so pissed if I were one of the other Bridesmaid or Best Man who had to pay more becasue of one person. I think I’d send her the bill for the extra.

I bought my Bridesmaid or Best Man dresses so I didn’t have to worry about this.

I find that sometimes people respond better to a hard deadline rather than a “soon” or “ASAP.” I’d tell them they need to order by… Feb19th or they might be risking a rush charge. I’m a procrastinator so if any of your BMs are like me, they’ll see the date and realize that, yes, there is a timeline, and yes, they are behind and will get themselves in gear.

I ordered my wedding dress from Alfred Angelo, and I think 12 weeks is what they told me.  But, for bridesmaid dresses, I think they said 4-6 weeks.

I agree with giving them an absolute deadline sometime in the next couple weeks. I’m MoH in my best friend’s wedding in March and we ordered Alfred Angelo dresses back in Nov/Dec.  The 3 bridesmaids ordered theirs from the Alfred Angelo store, while I ordred mine from a store that carries the dresses (I’m a long distance Moh!).  They were told 8-12 weeks and the two that are in came in at 10 weeks (one girl ordered hers a month after the other 2).  I was told 12 weeks and it came in at 8!

I would tell them that the bridal shop told you that the dresses take up to 12 weeks to get in and they need to put in their orders in the next week to make sure they will have a dress to wear on the wedding day.  That will make them see how important it actually is and how soon it needs to be done.  I had to keep on my girls as well because I was told 12 weeks for my Bridesmaid or Best Man dresses too.
