Since I am ready to take the next step in my career and have been applying to various opportunities, I will need to get my first adult good quality suit or suits. I’ve had a couple a few years ago, but they are too small now. :/ Hence I am looking for something very good quality and flattering. I am a size 10 at the moment and busty.
Price isn’t so much an issue as we are counting this as investment and taking money out of our wedding gift money fund.
So Bees who work at banks, law offices, insurance firms, accounting firms, etc., where do you buy your suits?

Lawyer here – my fave suits are from Banana Republic, Express, and Bebe.
ETA: I’m also size 10 and busty. Bebe was better when I was skinnier. I found great things at Express just 2-3 months ago and bought a bunch of new things from there. I find that I prefer suits with more than just a one-button jacket (those usually end up opening up too much around the bust, it just looks bad imo).

@MrsNewDay: Maurices and Younkers.
Got lucky and found a nice suit coat at Target on clearance the other day!

I do really well in Macy’s, especially Larry Levine brand.

@MrsNewDay: I’m a fan of New York & Co 🙂

Lane Bryant bc I am plus size, Macy’s, and Nordstrom or Nordstrom Rack if you get lucky

Macy’s, Express, and Banana Republic. Tailoring is key. Make sure that you fit the suit properly in the shoulders and hips then have everything else tailored to fit. A suit always appears more put together and professional once it’s tailored.

Ted Baker, Gap, Banana Republic
I may have some YSL and McQueen as well
I agree it is all about the tailoring

@tksjewelry: Yes, that’s what I was planning to get done – get it tailored so it actually looks like a grown-up suit, haha.
@futuremrsk18: At my current size, Bebe would look inappropriate if I could even fit into it! 🙂
@mchitt329: I wish I had those stores here (Maurices & Younkers)
@BurlapnLace: I will keep LL in mind!
@ANGELaaimt: I have one close to me, and I KEEP forgetting about it! This will give me an excuse to check it out.
@littlemisst08: Love your choices! 🙂

J Crew! I love their slim fit suiting

Ann Taylor because most of the time I can buy right off the rack without any alterations (i.e., I know my size so I can also order online) and they have 40-50% off sales all of the time. I am a lawyer size 6 and busty. I get complimented almost daily on my work wardrobe.
Nordstrom, WHBM and Banana Republic for other work pieces.

@MrsNewDay: I’m in law school, and interned both in house and at a very conservative corporate boutique. Most of the female lawyers who are a bit older wear Brooks Brothers, it seems. I tried some on but decided that Theory has a better fit for my body.
I have two suits from Theory, one from JCrew, and one from Banana Republic. Quality makes a huge difference, and Banana/JCrew/Ann Taylor will not last or be comfortable for long.
In house, I could get away from keeping my blazer in my office, so quality didn’t matter much as long as fit was good. Once I spent 2 months at a conservative environment, I understood why quality fabric is so important. Now I realize it’s best to save for a nice suit rather than buy one from Banana Republic. Wearing a Theory blazer for 16 hours is a total breeze!

I have three suits all from The Limited. I’ve been very happy with them. But I rarely wear suits. I wore them more 4-5 years ago when I was interviewing and presenting my work more frequently than I do now that I’m settled in a job.

@flowercrowns: Hmmm. I’m still wearing some of my AT work attire many years later but my wardrobe isn’t small so maybe they are lasting because they are not in heavy rotation.
