So our wedding is probably just over a year away (not decided firmly on date yet, but thinking next summer here in Toronto) and I went to try some dresses on for fun yesterday.
The first dress I tried on (dress 1) I was in love with straight away: my friend was gushing, the staff were gushing and every other customer was gushing (needless to say I was quite embarrassed). I wasn’t too happy with the bust line because my boobs looked rather “meh”, but then again I wasn’t wearing a bra and it would need alterations and probably some inserts anyway to iron that out. However, I was taken aback by how much I liked the lace and the elegance of the dress, especially the train. The part that really made me think here is that the original dress price was $1,600 but the sample was being sold for $995 (which they later reduced to $900 for me) and would only need minor alterations. My thinking at this point was a) I do really like the dress b) if someone else snaps it up I will have to pay full price, and c) if I do buy it and change my mind later, I could hopefully sell it for roughly what I bought it for (considering it’s already discounted). I ended up speaking to my mum, who freaked out a little, and decided to leave the dress because I have a lot of time to try more things on, look around for prices, get a better idea what I REALLY like (and maybe actually book the venue first!!) etc.
As well as the poll, I’d love to know whether you agree with this rationale or whether you’d have bought the dress and hoped to sell it for the same amount if you changed your mind later?
Dress 2 I liked too, but I think was $1000 at full price and dress 3 I still liked, but probably liked the least (though my mum loved this one, especiialy the sweetheart cut, which I loved too).
I’d be gratefulto know what you Bees think! Honest opinions would be appreciated, so don’t hold back!

Ohhh I really like #1!
I think you look great in all of them but the other 2 are just not my personal preference.
If you really like the first one then I would get it but you do have some time to look around still. Besides, you clearly fit into sample sizes so this may not be the only sample you come across if you decide to keep looking (Becker’s Bridal has a whole room of sample dresses).
(BTW, where did you go shopping? I really like the sahses you have on!)

@hopefloats: Good point on missing the front! That is a pretty important bit. I’ve added a photo now…

Love love love #1. #2 feels messy to me for some reason. Just not a fan of the skirt of #3, but I do really like the top. #1 is just gorgeous on you, looks like it was made for you!!

@Ms. Martian: I went to Bridals on Spadina at Spadina and Adelaide. It’s a few doors north of Classy. The mother and daughter team there were amazing. Really great people and super helpful, really funny and so very kind so I’d definitely recommend them. It’s a small store but from what I could tell there was quite a good collection and the prices were pretty good (and if you ask really nicely, they let you take photos).

Love, love, love, LOVE, LOVE Dress #1!!! You look spectacular in that gown!!!!! Dress 2 is also very pretty, and you look great in it. However, it lacks the WOW factor of Dress 1.
I do not care for Dress 3 at all. The other two are light years better for you.
The first dress is just absolutely perfect!!!

I love number 1! That being said, from everything I’ve read on the bee- I think its a good idea to try on different styles before you buy the first dress. If you still like it, go back and get it! 🙂
