Pollstered! I love these shelves, SO is undecided (which means he hates them but is too nice to tell me that he hates something I love). What do you think bees? I’m throwing a baby shower next month and am desperately trying to get our new house in order. Unsure if my desperation is clouding my judgement.

I think if they were painted either a neutral colour or an eye-popping colour, maybe with some great wallpaper behind them for added impact, they could be really nice. But unpainted they just look unfinished.

I like the overall concept of them, but agree with PP. They look unfinished. They need a pop of color or something.

Appreciate the help bees! Our house is on the water so I’m trying to decorate it with a bit of a beach housey feel, which is why the ‘unfinished’ look didn’t bother me so much. If we do get them I may consider painting them though, depending on how they look.

They seem good for plants but an inefficient use of space for storing books. What will you be using them for?

@AlwaysSunny: Probably for plants/pictures/decorations. I’m thinking of putting them either a) going up a staircase, or b) on either side of the fireplace. They’ll be more for fashion than function 😉

@VeggieBee: I think they’d work quite well then!

@AlwaysSunny: Thank you 🙂 Normally I’m very decisive and have free reign over our decorating but SO had me second guessing myself with his strongly adverse reaction, lol

If you are going for a beachy feel, have you considered whitewashing them?
