We got engaged May 2015 and are getting married October 2017, you can do it! At first it does sound like a long time, but honestly, you’ll probably be very happy with that additional time to plan everything and to just enjoy being engaged 🙂

I live in Florida so I can completely understand your mom’s concern about the Florida weather.  However, since it’s going to be an indoor wedding, I don’t see the big problem.  Your guests would only go outside to get into their cars and then back inside of the building.  They can live through that.

However, waiting until September or October isn’t bad either.  We are having an outdoors wedding so summer wasn’t an option for us.  We are doing early April and it should be fine especially with the breeze off the water at our venue.  My Fiance though didn’t want to go any later due to it being to hot after that.  The reception will be indoors though.

zl27 :  Yeah, I actually live on the east coast in one of the most hit states, and being indoors has protected me thus far. SMH…But to clarify…it would be hurricane season, and therefore more likely to have at least some rain/bad weather from the outer bands of a passing hurricane during that time, as the majority of hurricanes follow the coast and make landfall in the Carolinas.  I wasn’t saying hold the wedding indoors in the eye of the hurricane.

4 months is nothing is the scheme of things…I’d say do what you can to stay out of the heat! You and your guests would be miserable.
