I love this thread! Amazing to see how tastes change once you’re actually trying them on!

@Alawi, wich designer was your dream dress and your actual dress (and model)?  I love them both and they are very similar.

@redband, love your mermaid dress and I would love to know the designer and name?

@sleepyhead22, is that an Enzoani?  Lovely!

I love this thread….such a good idea!

This is the dress I loved when I first got engaged…Martina Liana 411. I tried it on and it was OK.

Here is the dress I tried on just to step outside my comfort zone, and actually ended up really liking it! But not LOVING it.

This one I left the store thinking it was my dress. However, I had another appointment scheduled and wanted to keep looking. I really thought I’d be back to buy it.

At my next appointment I fell in love. I ended up purchasing this dress and I am SO happy! it is scheduled to come in in about 1 month! I cannot wait!!

It’s like all the dresses I tried on all mixed into one. LOVE!

@Razzmatazz:  The dress you THOUGHT was the one for you was the ACTUAL one for me!  It’s the one I chose.  πŸ™‚  It is a beautiful dress, and you would’ve rocked it…but the one you ended up choosing is absolutely stunning on you as well.  πŸ™‚  Yay!

Here is my journey!  When I first got engaged and was looking up pictures of dresses online, this is the one I totally fell in love with:

I never did get to actually try it on, because it was a style from the previous year and no shops had it on hand anymore.  However, I didn’t try TOO hard to find it, because once I really started looking around at the dresses available in bridal shops, my tastes changed a little bit.  I realized I did not like the feel of taffeta (which is what this dress was made of), I began thinking the pick-ups looked dated, and I realized that this particular cut of dress may not be the most flattering for someone who is incredible short-waisted like myself!  (I am tall, but have NO torso.  So weird!)

The first dress I fell in love with after actually trying it on myself was THIS one:

I thought for SURE it was going to be the one for me, and I almost bought it on the spot!  BUT, since I had only been to one bridal shop at that point in time, I made up my mind to at least go to ONE other shop, and try on a few other dresses, before making my final decision.  BOY, am I ever glad I did!  A couple of weeks later, I had an appointment at another shop, and walked out of there the proud owner of THIS beauty!  (Sorry for the dark picture…it was taken on a camera phone, in my bedroom at home.)

I knew it was the one as soon as I tried it on!  I was so in love with the poof, and the BLING:

I can’t wait to wear her on my wedding day!  πŸ™‚  Yay!

@CookieCharmer:  It really is such a beautiful dress!!! It looks great on you!! I can’t lie…I do still think about it sometimes….it fit like a glove and felt so good on. I also loved the deep sweetheart neckline. I wouldn’t say I have dress regret, but if I didn’t find my current dress at that next appointment, that would definitely be my dress.

I can’t wait to see pictures of you on your big day in that beautiful dress!

The dress I wanted when I was younger:

When I got engaged and started looking, I fell in LOVE with this dress. When I went to try it on it looked terrible on me.

The dress I got (only mine has an ivory sash):

And the picture I took of it right after I picked it up: – Didnt realize it was blurry until I looked at it later. Its at my sisters house so I haven’t been able to take a new one :(-

Was nothing I ever expected I would get but i LOVE it.

I don’t remember really having a dream dress when I was younger but when I first started to be interested in wedding dresses (in high school maybe?) I was obsessed with big ballgowns with pick-ups. Specifically this dress:

Then I moved on to more simple dresses. I was crazy in love with this dress. Not sure what happened, but I eventually just fell out of love with it:

Once I actually got engaged I was obsessed with all lace dresses with sleeves/illusioin necklines. I “knew” this was going to be the one:

That looked awful one me! Lol.

After seeing the Justin Alexander 8557 on Pinterest I once again knew that was going to be the one. Never got to try it on because I ended up finding “MY” dress a couple weeks before my appointment to try on the Justin.

I tried on the Enzoani Darwin and loved it! I loved the waist embellishment, the lace trim, the super soft english netting BUT it was tight around my torso and that is a huge annoyance for me (even with regular clothing). Also, there were a thousand layers of netting/tulle so it was pretty heavy.

And finally, MY DRESS! As soon as I saw it hanging on the rack I knew I had to try it on! I tried it on first and nothing else compared!! It surprised me because there wasn’t a stitch of lace and it had a textured skirt. Before then, everytime I saw a textured skirt on a tv dress show, I hated them. Well I frickin love my dress and can’t wait to wear it πŸ™‚

@gelaine22: This is the only one I have from when I tried it on originally back in Feb. When I picked it up about 2 weeks ago it was too big (yay), so it looked silly and I didn’t take any pictures.
