    • Wedding: August 2015 - Southern Plantation House

What city and state, province, territory do you live in? DH and I live in a suburb of Atlanta. We are about 30 minutes outside of midtown.

How long have you been living where you live now? We have been here 3 years this August.

Do you own or rent? We rent a 1 bedroom apartment.

Why did you choose where you live now (if applicable)? We came here for the university and will stay until DH finishes his masters program.

What is your favorite restaurant in your city or town? There’s an incredible Thai restaurant with the best green curry I have ever tasted that we both love! It’s pricey though, so we only go on special occasions.

What is your favorite park (can be nature/walking or amusement) in your city or town? There are several historic battlegrounds and a mountain 5 minutes from where we live with incredible hiking trails.

What is your favorite nightlife area in your city or town? We’re not big nightlife people, but midtown is only 30 minutes from us if we ever wanted to go! On very special occasions we get tickets to the Fox Theater.

What is your favorite touristy thing to do in your city or town? Stone Mountain is pretty touristy in GA. So is walking around Piedmont Park in ATL.

Would you recommend tourists visit you city, state, province, or territory? Why or why not? Sure. The more the merrier. 🙂

What do you like least about where you live? It is too commercial! There is not a lot of “local flavor” to our city. It is made up of big-box retailers and other giant corporate machines that take away from the uniqueness of our city. Ideally, next year we would love to move to a smaller town about 10 minutes outside of our suburb. It has the cutest downtown square with a small town feel!

Do you plan on staying where you live long term? Ideally, no. It’s too “city” for us.

The specificity of these questions creeps me out. What’s your objective for collecting this information? Given how much personal info bees tend to disclose (full name, city, pictures, even their address when they post pictures of uncensored invitations) I wondered if answering questions about favorite places to eat and go out might potentially make someone a target.

    1. NY, NY.

    2. Rent.

    3. Because it’s the most awesome place I have ever been (although at the same time it is difficult to live in and way too expensive, and part of me can’t wait to leave).

    4. This is impossible, haha. It would probably be easier to answer this question by neighborhood. Hmm…I love Buvette, Palma, and Joseph Leonard in WV, Momofuku Ko and Ssam, Cherche Midi, Root and Bone in EV, Carbone in Soho, Scarpetta and Del Posto in Chelsea…could go on for paragraphs.

    5. Central Park.

    6. WV

    7. Seeing a show or checking out the latest exhibition at the Met.

    8. Nope, too crowded here already without more people coming.

    9. Expensive, dirty, crowded, overly competitive, missing many of the conveniences of modern life that people in other places take for granted.

    10. I wish, but there’s just no way. We are planning to move to a new city next year.

We live in Wichita, Kansas. I grew up here, DH did not. We plan on moving to New England within the next few years.

I’ve lived here 26 years (my entire life).

    We own our house.

Didn’t really “choose” to live here. That’s why we plan on moving sooner rather than later.

A little place called Cafe Asia. It’s a delicious little hole in the wall.

For my favorite park, I would actually choose our zoo. Kansas isn’t that great, but the Sedgwick County Zoo is quite impressive.

Nightlife, I don’t know. We don’t go to bars or clubs. But I think the “scene” is around Old Town (in Wichita, KS)

    There’s nothing really “touristy” here.

I would not recommend our area for tourists. It’s an OK place to live if you don’t aspire to do much. It’s pretty lame.

What I like least…not much to do here.

As I said before, we do not plan on staying here long.

silkybutterbee:  I was kind of wondering about that, too. So many questions but without a stated purpose or intention.

What city and state, province, territory do you live in? Vancouver, British Columbia.

How long have you been living where you live now? Three years.

Do you own or rent? We rent a one bedroom.

Why did you choose where you live now (if applicable)? I came here for a job in journalism.

What is your favorite restaurant in your city or town? We aren’t really foodies…probably our neighbourhood sushi place. Or Chipotle haha.

What is your favorite park (can be nature/walking or amusement) in your city or town? My favourite parks are on the Gulf Islands which are a short ferry ride away. Or the mountains on the North Shore. Or up near Whistler… basically we have endless hiking to choose from.

What is your favorite nightlife area in your city or town? Bard on the Beach (the summer Shakespeare festival).

What is your favorite touristy thing to do in your city or town? Stanley Park, the Vancouver Aquarium, Science World or the Bloedel Conservatory.

Would you recommend tourists visit you city, state, province, or territory? Why or why not? Yes! It’s an amazing place to visit (and live).

What do you like least about where you live? It’s REALLY expensive. The average price for a detached home is well over a million dollars.

Do you plan on staying where you live long term? Yes. It’s an incredible place to live. I feel extremely lucky.

What city and state, province, territory do you live in?

    — San Francisco, CA

How long have you been living where you live now?

    — five years

    Do you own or rent?

    — Rent. We aren’t the type who can compete in $1M+ all cash deals

Why did you choose where you live now (if applicable)?

    — Rent control + best place to be for my career

What is your favorite restaurant in your city or town?

    — Best meal ever was at Lazy Bear. Favorite regular place is Sugoi Sushi or Orenchi Beyond

What is your favorite park (can be nature/walking or amusement) in your city or town?

    — Dolores Park

What is your favorite nightlife area in your city or town?

    — The Mission

What is your favorite touristy thing to do in your city or town?

    — Go to hotel bars for a drink

Would you recommend tourists visit you city, state, province, or territory? Why or why not?

    — Yes, but please respect the fact that it’s a small city with lots of people who live and work here. Please don’t block sidewalks & escalators or get into your Lyft or Uber slowly.

What do you like least about where you live?

    — Cost of living and entitlement attitudes

Do you plan on staying where you live long term?

    — Yes, unfortunately it’s the best place for our careers.

What city and state, province, territory do you live in?  Outside of Boone, NC

How long have you been living where you live now?  I’ve lived there for almost 3 years; my Fiance has been there his entire life.  I lived in Charlotte before moving here, and Raleigh before that.

Do you own or rent?  My Fiance owns the house.

Why did you choose where you live now (if applicable)?  Because it’s where my Fiance lives.  I actively chose to move to NC in 2001 because I love it.  I went to college here in the 1980s and then left, but wanted to get back as I got older.  It’s a nice blend of southern culture yet educated and fairly sophisticated population, with four seaons which were sorely lacking in Florida where I grew up.

What is your favorite restaurant in your city or town?  There are a bunch of good local restaurants.  The most famous one is Daniel Boone Inn.  It’s not my favorite, but it’s memorable.

What is your favorite park (can be nature/walking or amusement) in your city or town?  There are a bunch of great parks right off the Blue Ridge Parkway which cuts right through town.

What is your favorite nightlife area in your city or town?  Nightlife is weak and/or centered around the university students, but since I’m 46, that’s okay.  We just drink wine at restaurants or at one of the many nearby vineyards.

What is your favorite touristy thing to do in your city or town?  Drive the Blue Ridge Parkway, hike on trails off the Parkway, vist Blowing Rock and Grandfather Mountain.

Would you recommend tourists visit you city, state, province, or territory? Why or why not?  It’s a prety major tourist attraction because of the mountains and Blowing Rock.

What do you like least about where you live?  Sometimes I wish we were closer to a big city, but most times I love being a little farther away.  Winston-Salem and Charlotte are both 1.5 hours away so we can get “big city culture” there.

Do you plan on staying where you live long term?  We are not going anywhere.

Also, I don’t think these questions are creepy, and I can understand why you would ask.  It’s not like you are asking for our full names and addresses, and even if you were, they are most likely all over the internet anyway.  lol

    1. I live in Northern NJ

    2. I’ve lived here my whole life.

    3. My Fiance and I bought a house in 2013.

    4. If I had a choice I would love to go to Texas or South Carolina. The cost of living here is so ridiculous.

    5. We are known for our Italian food/pizza. Other than NYC this area is where it’s at for amazing Italian.

    6. There are many beautiful parks in NJ but my favorite area is the Ramapo Reservation in the Ramapo mountains. Absolutely breathtaking, especially in the fall.

    7. In north jersey definitely Hoboken or Morristown for the nightlife.

    8. Yes! NJ is beautiful! You can go to beautiful beaches on the coast, parks, forests, hiking trails and there is a lot of history here And we’re close to the greatest city in the world NYC!!!!

    9. So densely populated and the cost of living is astronomical. Our property taxes alone are almost $13,000 a year for a house that’s 1,900 sq. ft…. It’s fucked up.

    10. For now yes because of our jobs, but eventually would like to move south or west, definitely leaving here when we’re retired. NJ is awesome for many reasons but it’s a shame that many people are being forced to leave bc of the corruption of our government and the rich are getting richer while the middle class and poor struggles terribly…. Kind of a sad situation… I hate to sound cynical but it’s true.
