SO, I struggled for a LONG TIME with being in love my dress…
I mean I loved her (and the 90% off price I got her for!)
but I always felt there was something missing…
I went through a lot of highs and lows and 9 dresses total
(I even had one at home as a back up on the wedding day just in case I changed my mind!)
ANYWAY I tried many belts & statement necklace options but none felt 100% amazing:
and I REALLY thought the sparkley blingy belt was THE ONE…
but when it came down to it…
it didn’t give me that uniquely bridal feeling I was looking for…
SO the search continued… and I was losing hope… the day was approaching
I searched for statement necklaces, belts, hairpieces, even more dresses!
I kept coming back to the fact that my dress originally came with a bolero:
This bolero originally cost $2000… and I actually didn’t love it but I loved what it did for the dress so anyway, I was on the hunt for one!
So after much ebay, etsy & other bridal research, I came to the realization that most boleros were $300-$1200 and that was simply not giong to be an option…
UNTIL I FOUND THIS OFF SHOULDER LACE ONE for $89 from Tulip Bridal
I was skeptical because there were NO REVIEWS on it and it looked kinda cheap online but I love alencon lace and was getting desperate so I crossed my fingers, found a coupon code bringing my total with shipping down to $95 and purchased!
It came… and I was in love with what it did for my gown!
Just a simple ivory ribbon sash to hide the boning I really disliked was perfect…
no high maintenance blingy sash just classic bridal…
I was in love but new I couldn’t have it on all night due to the restrictive off shoulder sleeves sooooooooo I thought about it more and
BAM! Opportunity for statement necklace FOUND!
So I bought this one from Dillards:
Which was stunning in person as well and I had found my bridal looks for both ceremony and reception…
Here are a few guest’s pix from the day…
SOOO The moral of my story is, don’t SETTLE!
Listen to your heart and search your tail off until you find what makes you HAPPY!
My bridal ensemble didn’t come together fully until about 2 weeks before the big day… cutting it close I know but with prayer, determination and finally listening to my gut, I DID IT!
Anyway, hope this helps anyone with a simple dress they love looking for a way to make it more “THEM”. ESP those of you on a budget (both necklace & bolero were less than $100 each – honestly, a bargain in the bridal world AND I’m happy to say I plan on wearing both again someday! Anniversaries? I think so!)
YOU are beautiful, YOUR DRESS makes you feel beautiful and now you just find the little bits that make you feel like a billion dollars… it took me almost 10 months, but I did it!
I got a ton of compliments and it made my heart happy that I finally got what I wanted.
You can. too!
PS. I plan to do a recap soon I promise! I just reeeeeeally want to get my pro pix back before I do it cuz there are sooooo many things I can’t really remember… it all goes SO QUICK!
