Yes i have seen 6 prong halo settings. However if you were to have a halo added to your exsisting ring, then your prongs would be replaced anyway. Also im pretty sure you would have to have a peg head solitaire for this to even be possible. If the head of your ring is intragraded into the band, then the head cannot be changed. It may be worth getting a new setting if adding a halo cannot be done. Do you have a side view pic of your ring?

Here’s one of the few 6 prongs halos I’ve seen. This belongs to a bee that I don’t think is active here anymore. This setting was probably made to have 6 prongs though.

I had a solitaire at first then reset into a halo last month! I don’t regret it at all…I am so in love with my ring!

I had my diamond reset into a completely new setting with a halo.

sshumatey:  Thank you!! 😊 Yeah you definitely have to speak to a jeweller. Mine was a cathedral setting so it wasn’t possible for me to just add a halo.

sshumatey:  if it’s a peg head, it’s more than likely possible!

sshumatey:  This is something I have contemplated doing at some point in the future, but I have no idea if it would work with my ring.

There is a bee (I can’t remember her user name) who was really active on the ring board a couple of years ago who had fallen in love with an amazing ring (I think it may have been a Tacori) that has a square halo surrounding a round diamond. As I recall, it featured four baguettes (one on each “side” of the round diamond) and four rounds (one in each corner of the halo.) I thought it was absolutely stunning, and I’ve wondered if something like that could be added to the head of my ring.

Because I do love the classic nature of my current ring (round brilliant center stone with two, large tapered baguettes on the sides), I’m not sure I would even decide to pursue the idea of adding a halo to it one day. However, it is an interesting thought. Like you, I would not want to reset my diamond in a completely new ring.

sshumatey:  I love your ring as is :). How many carats is it?
