15$? That is alot of money for just some cardamom..  I googled, and found that you can mix nutmeg and cinnamon together.. I have done so once for an apple recipe not too long ago aswell, but I added vanilla sugar too, just for the fun of it.

Ha. I’d skip it for that price. How much difference could it make in the flavor? I eliminate things I don’t have all the time.

Equal parts of nutmeg and cinnamon will work as will equal parts of cinnamon and ground clove.

I would eliminate it, especially since it’s such a small amount!

There’s really nothing that tastes quite like cardamom in my opinion. (I love cadamom!)

Do you have any place that sells bulk spices, like a farmer’s market, ethnic grocery store, etc? I know at my farmer’s market, I can get spices for $1 a scoop, the more expensive ones for $2, $3, or $4 a scoop. (A scoop is about 1 cup. I use the 1/2 pint mason jars to store them and 1 scoop fits perfectly.)

Or try shopping around at a few different grocery stores. I think cardamom at my grocery store is around $8.

If there is one near you, Ocean State Job Lot carries ALOT of different spices all for about a $1 each. I almost exclusively buy mine there and have never had a problem with freshness or selection.
