chillbee29 :  I got engaged December 20th 2018 and I have my wedding date set in June, we’re inviting about 100 people and am about to send save the date cards out. Between me, him, his mom, and his aunts we’ve pretty much planned everything. We’re keeping it a casual wedding, nothing fancy. It helps when you have family more than willing to help. We are having it in June because due to school schedules it’s either this June or the June after and we dont want to wait another full year. I think you may have to be on desktop to put in a wedding because I couldn’t do it on phone.

We got engaged Christmas morning and we’ve set our date for  4/4/2020 – but we havent booked anything yet so it could still change.

We are currently planning our engagement party (March 2019) and will tackle most of the wedding plannng after that.

chillbee29 :  you should be able to change your date in the same place as you change your profile picture but I think that’s playing up at the moment. It definitely is doable because I set this account up as a waiting been nearly 10 years ago when I was with my ex.

We have booked the venue for Oct 2019. We also didn’t want to wait until 2020. We have a wedding planner and my mom is deputy wedding planner (hah) so having help makes it seem feasible to get everything together quickly. We’ll invite ~90, expecting maybe 70-80, so not a huge wedding. Nothing else is booked or organized though, tons of work left to do!

  • Wedding: July 2020

We got engaged November 21 and are starting to look at venues this weekend.  We are pretty flexible for 2020 as I need to move to his house and he wants to pay off his house early by this coming November.  We are considering July 25, 2020 as that would be our 5 year anniversary.

  • Wedding: May 2020 - Disneyland, CA

chillbee29 :  I got engaged December 17 and so far we have looked at Disney Fairytale Weddings. Disney is a place that holds so much sentimental value to both of us and it obviously stole both of our hearts. We are looking to set a date of March or May 2020 but are still unsure. As far as planning goes, I’ve just been searching for inspo photos and saving the ideas in my phone. Today I’m going wedding dress shopping just to get a feel of what I want.

I feel like I will feel so much less anxious when I have a date and a venue. PHEW lol.

chillbee29 :  for a smaller or less complicated wedding, I think Oct 2019 is absolutely achievable. Plus, it’s not the height of wedding season so vendors aren’t booked up as quickly.

My friends with long engagements (1.25 years plus) typically had extenuating circumstances – sibling also getting married, waiting until after grad school, super in-demand venue, adamant about having a summer wedding, etc.

  • Wedding: August 2019 - Kelowna, BC, Canada

I got engaged on December 22nd, 2018 but no date/venue set yet. Not even sure if we will have an actual venue/reception because we dont have a lot of money and also dont want to go into massive debt just for a wedding. Im leaning towards a wedding in the park (small $400 fee for park use) and then dinner at a restaurant after which my new husband and I will pay for. 20 guests max.

We are getting having an intimate wedding (~35pp) in my parents’ backyard on August 23, 2019. I used to work in the events industry and have connections, so I have a lot of the major things booked (caterer, photographer, florist, officiant). I have ordered my dress. We are doing e-invites and have already chosen them.

My mum is throwing us an engagement party in March when half my family returns from India. She is also planning an Indian wedding for August 25, 2019, but she will be handling all the details for that.
