which day do you consider your wedding day to be?
I keep getting asked this so I thought I would ask the hive!
After our Paris elopement/DW we had to have a stateside ceremony to make it legal. I consider our wedding in Paris to be our wedding day even though it wasn’t legal. That is the only anniversary we plan to celebrate.

i almost did separate days for my Destination Wedding so i thought alot about it. i think i knew i wanted to count the Destination Wedding as our wedding, but i also knew it would bug me that our marriage certificate would say something different. I was going to do them separate when our Destination Wedding was set to be in Mexico and i was advised to get married legally before i go. my plan also was to have the legal ceremony as close as possible to the Destination Wedding so it would be like in the same week. i can’t say for sure what we would have celebrated though….we ended up having our wedding in Jamaica and it was very easy to make it legal it there and it still counts here.

Ugh! this question has been irritating me lately!! lol!!
Fiance and I will be having our private Destination Wedding ceremony on 8/25-it will be our 8 year anniversary. We are going downtown to do the legal stuff the first wk in August so that way we dont have to pay the extra $ and do the other BS of getting legally married in Mexico. But we are having a reception at home before we leave on 8/3 and people keep telling us that is our anniversary. I’m like “um. NO.” I specifically scheduled everything around 8/25 so we could keep the same anniversary.

@dynamic_duo: I don’t like that our certificate says something different!
@LRCWedding: I understand the frustration! We had our legal one after so that the Destination Wedding was the first time ever saying vows. I’m forgetting about the May 12th ceremony!

We had a legal wedding on leap day and our religious ceremony is in September. They’re both our wedding days to us. We’ll celebrate every September but every 4 years we plan on doing something big for our leap day anniversary. Yes, we planned it that way. 🙂 We’re thinking about having both dates engraved in our rings.

We did our legal ceremony beforehand. Absoloutely, our Destination Wedding is our wedding day. Our legal ceremony was just at a JP’s house. Never thought about it after that, never once did we even acknowledge that we were married. To me the day we were married was the day we said our vows in front of family and friends.

I didn’t have a destination wedding, but I did have 2 ceremonies. We celebrate both since both were important to us! The one I consider my official wedding day is the day that we got legally married though.
