DH and I have been TTC for 6 months/7 cycles! It’s getting exhausting, but I’ve been curious about my likelihood of conceiving with a shorter cycle. I’ve got a couple bits of feedback today, but I’d like to gather a bit more data myself. My O days range from CD 11 to CD 13 – only one cycle at CD14 since starting to TTC.
As in the poll – Bees who conceived (viable pregnancy) with short follicular phases (12 days or less), when you conceived, what cycle day did you ovulate?
And a follow-up question to answer in the comments – How many cycles did it take you to conceive if you often have these shorter follicular phases?
Thank you so much for aiding my curiosity!

Commenting to follow! I’m not TTC till next year, but I’m off BCP. I almost always have 26 day cycles and O on CD 12. I hope it’s not something to worry about!

I just checked my tracking app and only 2 of my last 12 cycles were 25 or 26 days. All others were 27 days plus. But my first cycle trying in may was 26 days and that was when I got my BFP. My follicular phase is always 13 to 15 days.

I’m going to follow as well. My FP is also really short but I didn’t realize that was a problem!

I tended to ovulate around CD12. The cycle I conceived (which was our 4th cycle) I had my temp shift on CD13 so I think I ovulated on CD11 or CD12 although it’s impossible to know for certain because your temp doesn’t necessarily rise 24 hours after O, it can be 24-72 hours or longer and I had no other signs of O like spotting or pain. I read that if you’re Oing at CD10 or after it’s fine and women with shorter cycles have more opporunity to conceive (since you have more cycles). If you’re Oing before CD10 it might be an undeveloped egg but other sources said the egg can’t be underdeveloped so it wasn’t clear cut. I don’t think it should be an issue, I’m crossing my fingers you’ll get your BFP soon!
How far before your suspected O do you start BDing?

I was the pill for 15 years and got pregnant on my 4th cycle after quitting. My first 3 cycles off the pill were 42, 39 then 36 days. On my 4th cycle, we dtd on CD5 and I ovulated on CD8. Had a temp dip and positive OPK 10 DPO (didn’t take HPT) and got my BFP 12 DPO when I took a test on a whim. I’ll be 25 weeks tomorrow! Good luck bee!

Hi lovely bee . I just wanted to drop in here and say I’m sorry if I set off a chain reaction of worry regarding short FPs on the June POAS board.
I am NOTORIOUS for looking up any old crap on the internet that might spell bad news for me (I’m a massive worrier with dips into full blown health anxiety).
But I do have a logical side too that tells the crazy side of me to shut up. There is really soooo little info about short FPs out there. The research is scanty, what is defined as ‘short’ is well and truly all over the place, so I really don’t think it warrants any over worrying. Short LPs seem to be the main culprit, which is probably why short cycles in general are getting a questionable rep.
Sooo many women get their BFPs just fine with shorter FPs
this is for you too!

Ovulation at CD 12 is early but perfectly fine. I always ovulate around CD12 and I have a LP of 15-16 days. My OBGYN told me it’s even better this way as the fertilized egg has more time for implantation.
Short LPs are more dangerous conception wise, but many women with short LPs have no trouble conceiving at all, so it really depends on the person.
I wouldn’t worry about that at all.

My cycles were a little screwed up as I normally don’t ovulate until CD 26-28 without fertility meds making my cycles longer with a short LP, however the month we conceived somehow I ovulated on my own without meds on CD12 or 13 and am currently 34 weeks pregnant. It took us 13 cycles to conceive but my husband also has fertility issues.

You didn’t start a chain reaction 🙂 I’ve been slightly concerned about my short cycles for awhile now. I just like to look at the antecdotal evidence. I do actually get short LPs every now and then, as well. As far as I know, my short FPs and short LPs are still in the range of normal.
Thank you for all your input and well wishes, dear! I typically get in 3 or 4 starting at -5 dpo. I normally do the EOD thing, but this cycle I was trying not to wear out DH so we could BD ED from my positive OPK to ovulation 😉 This is the first time I’ve done that, but my CM was never super fertile this cycle (we use preseed too).
No worries! I get short LPs too, so your input is still super useful 🙂 I think they range from 11/12 days to 15 (as of last cycle).
Thank you for your input! 🙂
Wow! Thank you for responding! Congratulations!! You’ll get to meet your LO so soon!

I have short cycles too! Anywhere from 23 – 25 days. I Oed on CD11 this cycle and we will see. The month I got a BFP (but it was chemical) I Oed on CD10.

I usually O on CD11-CD13. The month I conceived I ovulated on CD12 and I’m now 19 weeks. We were NTNP in January (O’d CD13) and February (O’d CD12) and I conceived in Feburary. Good luck to you!
