I’m not sure about methotrexate in the situation you’re in but I take this drug weekly for RA. Get a sports drink it will cut the nauseau from the drug when you take it. Be prepared to be very foggy and sleepy for 24-48 hours afterwards.

I had methotrexate for my last miscarriage. I was in a similar situation where they could not tell if it was ectopic, so they recommended the shot. I also had a kidney infection, so I was in the hospital taking other drugs too, so I can’t comment on the side effects of methotraxate alone.

It took a few days before I started bleeding.

In my experience, I was relieved to have the trauma and physical pain over. At least with the shot I was doing something proactive to help myself. But I was very upset over the miscarriage.

We were told to prevent for 3 months after the shot, so that is what we did. I have super long cycles, so I didn’t get my period until 3 months after the miscarriage anyways. It honestly helped to focus on myself and my husband during that time of not TTC. I took tennis lessons, art classes, and we did some weekend getaways.

To give you some hope, I got pregnant again 6 months after the miscarriage (and for what its worth I only have one tube), and this pregnancy has been going smoothly.

I didnt even think of the three month reccomendation the other poster mentioned. I have been advised I must be pulled from the drug 3-4 months before trying to conceive. MTX is a folate inhibitor.

I guess for me in your situation, it would be a relief. Ectopic pregnancies are spectacularly dangerous. You are lucky that it was caught without a rupture. It’s a natural process, and could never have progressed into a baby. You’ll be able to try again soon – especially with both tubes intact!

I have never experienced this, just wanted to say I am so sorry! 🙁 *HUGS* I hope it is a quick process and you are able to start trying again soon.

I don’t know anything about this but I just wanted to say I’m so sorry you’re going through this.
