What was your menu?
We are having an evening ceremony (6ish) then cocktail hour with canapes (4 kinds – beef skewers, something else, stuffed mushrooms and something else – can’t remember).
then suggested dinner menu was:
soup or salad (sept 14th wedding so depending on weather)
roast checken breast, roasted potatoes and some veggies
no desert, desert will be cupcakes that are part of the wedding cake (I may also do a homemade desert bar)
late night snack of hot dogs and burgers
I feel like I’m being cheap and it’s not a good enough menu but that and the staff to support (bar staff, 7 wait staff, a dishwasher, a supervisor etc. , and the rental of the china/glasses/cutlery is $7k.
What did other bees have or are planning on having?

sounds like a good menu to me! If I were a guest I would be happy…I don’t think it sounds cheap. I am planning on having an outdoor wedding and it will probably be prime rib, chicken, and some type of pasta. It is honestly a little fancy for my taste, but my stepdad used to be a chef and is paying for the catering, and insists on it lol! We will be having it buffet style though. I think you can be a lot less formal with an outdoor wedding.

Your menu sounds tasty, but I do think you need to add a few sides. We are having an outdoor wedding too- Our menu theme is comfort food!
Grilled Summer Vegetables: Zuchinni, Eggplant, Peppers/Roasted Corn
Roasted Rosemary potatoes
Mac and Cheese
Field Green Salad
Creamy Cole slaw

Oh gawd your menus both sound delish!!
It’s a plated dinner in a tented reception…we’re paying for it so I’d love to do buffet but just not a good idea with our family (and me, the queen of falling).
I think another meat would be good, my dad had suggested prime rib but I laughed him of as he’s not paying, but reading it it sure sounds good.
I wanted a huge BBQ with can can dancing beer can chickens, I had a whole vision of it and everything but Fiance quite firmly rejected. boooooo to him.

Keep it coming ladies – I need a pretty good suggestion to go back to the caterer with – for $$$ savings she suggested cutting the cocktail hour but we can’t – people will have come from work and will be starving, but if we move dinner up we wont have time to get pictures and do a wee bit of socializing.
I was thinking cutting the later hot dogs and burgers and getting in pizza or something but that wont save much. Why don’t people work for free damnit??I mean who doesn’t looooveeeee wshing dishes and serving food?? 😉
