It’s a duplex, not a big apartment building or high rise. The washer and dryer are right beyond the door, then the kitchen is at the top of the stairs, a bedroom to the left, a bedroom straight ahead, the bathroom has a door leading from both the kitchen and on of the bedrroms. The living room is to the left of the stairs. 1200 sq ft, $1200/month, heat and trash included.

As for worrying the models won’t be the samea as the actual place, what’s the point in worrying. It’ll be whatever it is. Just deveo=lop a backup plan or haggle the price down if the place doesn’t live up to the model.

I don’t have any pictures of our place since my husband is the only one living there right now and I haven’t actually seen the place, ha. I currently live in a tiny, 1950s apartment. Our new place is a three-storey 1600+ sq ft townhouse, 3 bedrooms, 2.5 baths.

We didn’t get to see a model because they were totally full when we applied, but the pictures they put online (below) gave a pretty clear indication of the place, and from what my husband says and what I’ve seen on skype, it was exactly what they told us it would be. If you’re looking in a complex/apartment community, my experience is that the models are almost always what you’ve been shown, except for customizations (light fixtures, wall paints, cupboards, etc). The models are usually kept up-to-date and perhaps more modern looking than the other units, but otherwise the floorplans/layouts are usually similar unless they’ve noted otherwise.

i don’t have any pics. i thought i had some but i can’t find them. :-/ our building doesn’t have model apartments. we saw the actual unit that was listed for rent. there was a tenant still living there so we had to schedule an appt to see it but it was the exact apartment we got. it’s a 1bd/1ba in a 1920’s mediterrean style building.

i have some on my other computer from my first apartment. we’re in student housing, but they’re pretty standard apartments. i was in a 4 bedroom apartment my first year, then my second year i was in a 2 bedroom, and this past year, we’ve been in a 1 bedroom. they all look identical aside from the number of bedrooms though.

i’ll see if i can dig ’em up for you. if i can, i’ll post photos.

Our apartment is an exact mirror image of the model apartment that we looked at. Everything is the same, just reversed. It’s a 3BR/ 3 bath and all utilities, internet, and tv are included. DH and I will be moving into a 2BR/2 bath apartment in 2 months so we can live by ourselves and not have a roommate.

I can try to dig up some pics, but we live in a pretty small 1br, 1 bath with a little office nook and the model apt looked exactly the same except that it was an end unit  so there were 2 smaller windows on 2 different walls, and ours has 1 big window on 1 wall. I love it tho, it’s cheap so we can save for a house 🙂

I could only find a few, and they are all of like the same spot in the living room dining room area lol, and one is from Christmas before we had the little dining set, I think the other 2 are from when I got the dining set and I was excited.

I would post some pics 😛 But I’m ashamed how messy it is right now 😛

It’s pretty cosy… he have 1 bedroom and 1 bathroom with marble floors and a bathtub, our living room has hard wood floors, and has our tv and sofa, also it’s our dinner room. Our kitchen it’s pretty small but has everything we need. 😛

We are planning to move into something bigger when we can afford it hehe

@allyfally:  I noticed you’re bio says Louisville, KY. My fiance and I are currently living in Louisville at an apartment place called District at Hurstbourne (WAS Vieux Carre Apartments). I would NOT recommend this place whatsoever!!! Awful awful awful is all that I can say. I can’t even believe we got looped in to another year lease because we didn’t have funds for a condo. My FSIL and FBIL live in Plainview and it was really nice. I can’t even explain the amount of mold we have in our apartment right now and they do not want to take ANY action, along with our AC being broken for 2 weeks and just recently had our dryer crap out. Just make sure you read the fine print. Good Luck!

Here’s a picture of a suite up for rental in my building:

We didn’t see a model, as we got ours in a sublet, so it was the exact unit we looked at; but I wouldn’t worry too much. I have once rented a suite in a building without ever seeing the particular suite, but it was perfectly fine.
