Hi Bees, So my Fiance and I are from Canada. And it’s really hard reading articles on this website because so many are from brides who live in the US. It is WAY more common up here to host your own bar at a wedding. It’d be harder to find a venue around here that served per head with a bartender/corkage fee ect. I know – we live in the boondocks lol. But seriously, I am trying to nail down my budget for the bar and had a friend get married recently who spent around $2,300 on alcohol for around 220 people. I seem to read about budgets that get as high as $10,000.00 (for same amount of people) and it makes me almost faint! We are hiring bartenders, buying all of our own mix (pop, juice, clam for ceasars) and want to know what we’ll spend on booze. P.S. it’s a twoonie bar (which I know many of you may never have heard of) but it’s THE MOST common bar where I’m from. Essentially you pay $2 per drink regardless of whether or not its hard alcohol, beer, or wine. Side note: All of the brides I’ve talked to say they made their money back in what they spent on booze – and most guests don’t mind spending so little on a drink. Anyway I am babbling. I’m curious if there are any brides out there in a similar situation and could share their input? I’ve also had a hard time finding resources on how much mix to buy for 150 people (that’s our guest list count by the way if I hadn’t mentioned it already). We are doing two wine bottles on each table and that’s it for wine. The rest will be beer, coolers, and hard stuff. Thoughts??
