bclaytonsc :  Thank you for posting this. To be honest, I did not vote for him. I personally wish Bernie would’ve been the nominee, but that didn’t happen. I remain hopeful that the majority of our country voted for Trump because they see something in him that I personally fail to see. I look forward to seeing what the Trump supporter bees have to say because I want to remain hopeful that this country is moving in a good direction as well. I think this will be a good thread to have non-Trump supporters read so that we can understand why he was elected. Again, thank you. May I ask you why you voted for him?

I’m not a fan of Donald Trump, but I’m REALLY not a fan of Hillary. So that’s my biggest reason for voting for him. I’m very conservative, so I’m excited about his VP mate, Pence. I was also thinking about the high possibility of new Supreme Court Justices being selected during this Presidential term. So I personally really wanted to make sure there was a President who would pick more conservative people.

Just because I voted for Trump does not mean I am racist or hate anybody. Like I said, he wasn’t my initial pick. Ben Carson was! But, given the two, I felt Trump was the better choice if we were going to “Make America Great Again” 🙂

Thanks for posting this!  While I didn’t vote for Trump he is our president elect so knowing some policies that his voters support would be helpful.  I’m particularly interested in hearing from the voters that voted on his policies not because they didn’t like Clinton, Johnson, whoever.

I did not vote for him either, but he was elected and I will respect him as our president and do what I can to continue supporting this great country and make it the best ever. Already I have been looking to see the good, and think that it may be good to have a non-politian. Maybe we need someone who can tell it like it is – even if it is offensive. Maybe that will make us all stronger? Who knows. I want to keep positive and hopeful.

Also, Barron was so cute falling asleep during his dad’s speech. So he clearly has a bedtime. So there is something good in there lol

johnsontobe520 :  May I ask specifically what issues  you’d like to see a conservative Supreme Court address? I’m with other PP who are genuinely trying to understand what was behind people’s votes, particularly other women, so more information would be helpful.  Thanks!

I am interested to read some bees viewpoints as well. I have a lot of family who voted for trump though so I’ve heard it all. Some of them are racist and xenophobic, most of them aren’t. So I detest the amount of name calling and stereotyping trump supporters have to endure when I know for a fact that it is not that black and white.

Trump supporters please feel welcome to share your opinions without fear of backlash (on my part anyway). I hope this thread can maintain a positive environment so we can get so clear points of view. If you feel the need to name call or fact check please leave it for the other numerous threads already dedicated to that endeavor.

Sunshine09 :  He won the electoral vote, not the popular vote. More people actually voted for Hillary but because of the electoral college, Trump won.

bclaytonsc :  I personally was extremely conflicted about this years election. Truly, it came down to a few things for me.

1. Which candidate allowed me to keep my rights as a lawful gun owner.

2. Which candidate shows respect, compassion, and support for the police (My FI’s future occupation).

Then it came down to the trust and honesty. From all that we know about Benghazi (If you do not know, please read up, and watch the movie 13 hours.) and the issues with emails, lies, and all of the mysterious things around Hillary’s wining the nomination I could not bring myself to trust Hillary.

Alot of Hillary supporters may say she is for the police. But let’s look back on the events of the past year. Not once has she come out to support the Police. Not after the shootings in Texas. She will defend a criminal who tried to shoot a cop, but not the cop defending him/herself. I cannot support someone who doesnt care about a profession where they put their lives on the line every day. Where they are shot at for the uniform they wear.

I do not think that Trump was the best candidate, there were other republicans from the primaries I would be proud to call my President. But I also cant support a liar who hates our police.

bclaytonsc :  Thank you for starting this thread – I did not vote for Trump and am having a difficult time trying to understand other’s motives for doing so, so this will be helpful.  You said you finally feel hopeful about the direction the country is going – can you elaborate on some of the things that made you less hopeful or concerned about the direction it has been going under Obama/would have gone under Clinton?

johnsontobe520 :  Couldn’t have said it better myself. Trump wasn’t my first choice. He actually wasn’t even my second choice. Carson would have been my first pick, followed by Cruz. But regardless of him not being my first choice, Clinton has been my LAST choice through this whole election. I do not agree with any of her views, so I wouldn’t vote for her even if she didn’t have all of the negativity surrounding her. I feel like she puts on a very fake facade, which scares me the most.

I’m also very conservative, and this election was about much more than the president. I was mostly concerned about who would be appointed to fill Justice Scalia’s seat, and the possability of more justices before the term is over.

I’m a strong supporter of the Second Ammendment, and I think everybody like me is sick of worrying about losing even more rights of something that we dearly love, and that should be protected under the US Constitution. The wrong person being appointed as a justice could do exactly that.

I also have hope in what

bluebee19 : has said – that it may be a good thing to have a non-politician in office. One of the biggest reasons I started to really feel strongly about Trump after Cruz dropped out, is the fact that he doesn’t have a bunch of people in his back pocket funding him. I hope that his straight forward attitude can do some good for this nation.

This is a great idea for a thread, OP. I hope that it stays positive like it has so far.

hunting_bride :  Thank you for being specific about your reasons. I may not agree with you, but I appreciate hearing concrete reasons that are important to people in how they chose to vote.  I’m very liberal, but please know that I appreciate the many people in law enforcement who are doing the right thing every day.

hunting_bride :  Amen. Bengazi and the e-mail issues were another reason I could never vote for Clinton, but I feel like those have been talked about so much so I left them off of my explanation. And I completely agree about the law enforcement officers issue. Our officers need to feel supported and safe while protecting us. Thank you to your Fiance for going into such an important yet potentially dangerous field to protect us!

cabber :  Thank  you for that. It is good to hear a levelheaded response. I hope all of you who do disagree allow us to all have our own opinions.

I also want to say, the hardest thing the last few days is being told that I am bigot, racist, evil woman for voting for Trump.
