My setting isn’t a cathedral setting, but it does sit quite high off my finger… probably as high as some cathedral settings (though it’s hard to judge based on pictures alone!) and eight months in, I think I’ve banged it maybe once? And it’s never caught on anything 🙂

I have a cathedral setting, although my setting isn’t super tall. It does not catch on anything.

It’s much more likely that prongs will catch things – depending on the style. Personally, mine has a little, but not frequently and it’s not too annoying.

Wasn’t sure what a cathedral setting was but based on Google pics my ring seems to sit up just as high. Its caught once or twice when I put a sweater on but I’m highly accident prone and things like that happen to me often so not 100% certain I can blame the ring. 😅

My old ring was cathedral and the only issue I had with it was with panty hose. Ruined a pair or three before I started taking it off to put them on.

Mine is a pretty tall cathedral and the only time it gets caught is on hair ties while I’m tying a ponytail!

Mine does! I’ve had my ring since October and I feel like it catches on everything. I have bruising around the ring from it catching so much. I try to be extra careful now.

If anything, I would think that the sloping shoulders down from the stone would make it LESS likely to catch on things. As a PP said, it is the prongs that generally catch on things if they are not done well. That said, neither the prongs nor the shoulders of my cathedral setting catch on anything, including panty hose.
