Birth control works. Get yourself regular for a few months and then once you get off, I’ve heard it’s easier to get pregnant that first month you stop taking them.

I’ve had two friends with success in this. I’m super irregular as well (will only have a period once or twice a year), and will probably try this once I get off my current B.C.

Good luck!

Commenting to follow.  I was at GNC today and almost picked up Vitex.  I’ve read interesting things about that, but wasnt ready to try it out… even though I’m on day 36 and still no O detected.

I was having really irregular cycles for over a year.  Some were up to 90 days long others only 3 weeks.  I started taking vitex and now they average 30 days with a 13-15 day LP.  You should totally try it!

I definitely worry about ttc. My pd is always super late, sometimes I even skip a month. I will say that we already have a daughter & before her it wasn’t as bad. I was late here & there but nothing like this. After our wedding going to the ob to get a check up & see if they can prescribe something. Had 2 miscarriages before conceiving dd so I’m a little nervous.

I take Lysteda to lighten my period but it also makes it shorter. I’ve had no side effects.

i had irregular cycles anywhere from 34 to 50+ days. My understanding was that it isn’t so much the length of the cycle but whether or not you are ovulating that truly matters. So I started really paying attention to my body to make sure I was ovulating. I downloaded the fertility friend app and used that as a guide for about 3-4 months. Then one day, when I thought I had the timing right, I told Darling Husband that we should DTD and see what happens. We only DTD twice, and a week apart, so I thought it was a long shot. I wasn’t even actually sure if I ovulated because I didn’t temp, it was just a best guess. And wouldn’t you know it? I got a BFP. I was soooo shocked because i was convinced I would have problems. It’s still early and I’m not completely out of the woods yet, but at least I know I CAN get pregnant.

Good luck. =)

@cant.wait.to.be.mrs.d:  No side effects at all!!  Though, I have heard that it can sometimes make it seem worse the first month or so and then it smoothes out.  That did NOT happen to me though.  Good luck!

@cant.wait.to.be.mrs.d: I never managed to fix my long irregular cycyles, but I got pregnant in spite of them! I used charting and OPKs.
