I’ve been looking at a stunning 1.8 ct morganite ring. Fiance and I are in the process of finding my forever ring. I called a jeweler to ask it’s hardness. He said he would not recommend wearing this stone daily. This bummed me out, have any of you girls had issued with your stone scratching or chipping?

Hrm…I thought I read that morganite has a hardness of 7.5-8, which really isn’t bad. I can’t way from any personal experience. You could also look into a peach sapphire, which is harder than morganite and scores a 9 on Mohs Hardness Scale.

I don’t have one, but do you now if it’s gets smudged easily? Obviously that’s not as important as it chipping, but my aquamarine smudges a lot and I hate cleaning it all the time for it to look decent. I don’t know if that’s an issue with morganite or not.

@lulu_honey: Peach sapphires are gorgeous.

I have a morganite ering and I love it! So far haven’t had any issues with it scratching or chipping. I am very happy with my choice and I was very skeptical at first too.
@floridagirlblue: I have noticed that it smudges easily but I still love it. Just gotta make sure you don’t wear it in the shower or doing dishes etc.
