It will be fine.  My dress was filthy on the bottom and my mom said mine looks like brand new.  Don’t worry about it, but make sure to take to a place that specializes in wedding dresses.

My seller had hers professionally cleaned and preserved right after her wedding. Which meant I could see pictures (she gave me the link to her facebook album) of it stained in action (in the shoe shots at the reception after her ceremony on a muddy cliff) but not after it was cleaned. (She didn’t want to break the seal on the box to take detail shots.) I got it and I had trouble finding any remaining stains. All of them are on the underside of the train and you have to search for them. I’m planning on asking my photographer to take a pretty hanging up shot and to make sure that if the stains are visible (which I doubt they will be) that he retouch them a little bit.

If the hem is dirty and you are having it shortened that might take care of a lot of the staining.

@cherryblossomlove:  You can also have the heels shortened by a shoe repair shop if you really love them.
